Tabs Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 It will take the funds from your bank account or if not enough then from your CC if you add one. You choose the currency you are paying. Take it steady bud. hi all,im in the process of setting up a paypal account and have two questions to ask..... do i have to have funds in my actual paypal account to buy records and stuff or will it just pay the money from my bank account if theres no funds in my paypal account ? also i sometimes buy records from abroad, will the payment i send convert itself into other currencies,eg dollars etc or is there something i have to do to pay in other currencies ? any help very much appreciated, thank you jason
Pete S Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 If you've got money in your account it will always take the money from your paypal account first, even if you specify it should come off a card, it won't do that til your account is down to zero.
arnie j Posted August 19, 2011 Author Posted August 19, 2011 thanks tabs and pete,so if no funds in pp it will take off card ? and theres an option on pp to choose which currency i pay by ? just to clarify like !,thanks jason
Mach Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 also if you buy from the u.s from yr paypal account it will automatically convert & pay for the goods in that currency
Tabs Posted August 19, 2011 Posted August 19, 2011 !) Will use any funds in your PP account first. 2) Then your bank account if you have set one up. 3)Then your CC [ 4) You choose what currency you pay in but as Macho says any purchases from the US automatically pays in dollars. thanks tabs and pete,so if no funds in pp it will take off card ? and theres an option on pp to choose which currency i pay by ? just to clarify like !,thanks jason
boba Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 thanks tabs and pete,so if no funds in pp it will take off card ? and theres an option on pp to choose which currency i pay by ? just to clarify like !,thanks jason You send the payment in a specific currency, you choose the currency at the time you send the payment. If buying from ebay you use ebay checkout and it's automatically in the currency of the ebay item. Paypal does a currency conversion for you at not-so-favorable rates.

Not sure if it still exists Pete ..but there used to be a option to decide where funds came from " more funding options" so you could taek from card rather than bank? My bank is registered with paypal but it never automatically takes funds from there ..it takes from my card unless funds are in paypal account .
Mike Lofthouse Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 and despite all the moaners going on about it (and ebay) its a fantastic way to pay for your items without any hassle

boba Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Sure thats still available Nev,i have 3 cards registered +bank acc, always gives the option where the funds come from, might depend what kind of acc you have with pp,mines a verified business acc you can use "more funding options" to chose between different credit cards and bank accounts. But Pete was saying that if you have money in your paypal account, it will automatically use that money up first and you won't have a choice to use your bank account or credit card instead.
Chalky Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Not sure if it still exists Pete ..but there used to be a option to decide where funds came from " more funding options" so you could taek from card rather than bank? My bank is registered with paypal but it never automatically takes funds from there ..it takes from my card unless funds are in paypal account . Paypal has never yet taken funds from my bank account. It has taken it from my paypal account then credit card. Usually credit cards cause rarely any funds in the paypal account. You can register as many credit cards as you wish and specify which card is to be used to pay for goods.

Credit cards are best cos they are not real money.lol
