And to widen the topic even further, I actually had the job of promoting it to a completely uninterested UK Market at the time when I was a regional promotion man with Decca. No one bothered with the track as it was considered too 'pop' for the specialists and too twee for the mainstream at the time. Plus Jackie and Brunswick were pretty cold at the time against the onslaught of commercial Disco that was in vogue then. Also the song was penned by 2 very commercial UK pop writers, Kenne and Gold, so the Soul Police were suspicious from the outset!

Another example of a record you almost couldn't give away for 30 odd years!

Got my Brunswick demo in a second hand shop in Hull in the late 70t's for 20p,still got the price written on it in pencil..........you wasn't in Hull giving them away around that time was you :no:

Yep. I had to service BBC Hull back in't day so it probably came from the boot of my Vauxhall Viva LOL......

Never understood the interest in this track.By far and away his weakest track IMO.

It's a great record. I agree it might not be Jackie's best work, but to be fair evn if you said it was his weakest that would still be good. Many great versions of this. Aretha, Majors but to mention a couple
