Guest Paul Posted August 18, 2011 Posted August 18, 2011 Sad to report the death of writer-producer Isaac Bolden. He died in hospital in Atlanta on Tuesday morning, August 16th, age 64. The sad news was confirmed to me by his nephew, Dartanian Stovall. Isaac owned the Soulin' and Soul Sound labels and was best known for his work with Tony Owens, Jean Knight, David Batiste & The Gladiators, Johnny Adams, The Philharmonics etc. I'd only known him since 2005 - a few months before his home in New Orleans was devastated by Hurricane Katrina - but I'll miss his warm friendship, his soulful personality and his wonderful sense of humour. Rest in peace. Paul Mooney Millbrand Music
Amsterdam Russ Posted November 5, 2011 Posted November 5, 2011 And there I was searching through Google for some information, late at night, on the songwriter to the latest 45 to drop through the post box: "I need, I need you love" by the Philharmonics - and where does it take me? Straight to this post from a few months ago. Sometimes my musical ignorance shames me.
boba Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 RIP. Love Tony Owens "Confessing a feeling" and "wishing, waiting, and hoping" as well as that philharmonics
Garethx Posted November 6, 2011 Posted November 6, 2011 Sad news. I always think Isaac Bolden's songs and arrangements had an extra layer of musicality about them than someone who typically worked at that level of the business. His partnership with Tony Owens produced music of enduring quality and depth. RIP.
