Chris Anderton
I have a "friend" who wants to buy some Northern soul clothes, dont ask me why as I think they look bloody ridiculous, but I said I`d ask on here if anyone knows of anywhere he can obtain such bizzare garments, I pointed him to Warrier clothing in Wigan but they dont do what he needs. Why anyone would want to dress like they did in 1977 is completely beyond me, but it seems a popular trend. Actually its only in the last 6 or 7 years people have been dressing like this again, I suppose its got something to do with the "revival". Anyone help? In 1977 I had the new England shirt for my 8th Birthday, the classic Admiral one, just off to see if someone can make one in a bigger size as i`m off to the match later!! Russ Vickers
There's a guy in the Nottingham area, trades as Roxy Threads he does the lot including custom stuff. Sorry thats all the info I have. Roxy Threads were trading back in the day & sad as it may seem now, every Wigan Anniversary I used to have them make me a 'made to measure suit' specially for the event. The one I had made for the 6th Anniversary was a black suit with 38" bottom trousers, patch pocket, crown flaps & all the other stuff we had on our pants back then (oh my gawd), a blazeer with the customary soul club patch on the breast pocket, more pockets in the jacket than you could shake a stick at, buttons down the arms & all sorts of other things too . I also could never afford the long black leather coats every one wore back in the day, but one Saturday whilst in RT a coat that had been stolen & used as evidence in court was in the sale & I could then eventually afford one.........happy days. Sorry all long gone tho', any one else want to admit to thier embarrassing Northern Soul wardrobe, all were you all always cool as fcuk. Russ BTW often wonder if this is why I never bought todays £1000 record in the record bar at Wigan for 50 pence, before the normal mortals new about it, I was actually in mi cool clobber (or so I thought) dancing my arse off all night, I was more concerned about how good I looked on the dance floor than I did about owning the tunes back then ..
