Hi all

Anyone got a scan of Johnny Hampton on a multi-coloured Dotty's label, rather than the usual yellow label with black print please?

Cheers

Richard

never seen one on multi coloured  there are two boots of this and those are both yellow, one has a bubbly label, the other is very much like the original yellow one. Be interested to see the coloured one too

I have only the yellow issue, but I have also seen an alternate label design with a creamy white background, with several coloured circles, one blue, one pink, one light green, one yellow, one red. They were sort of polka dot style, but different sizes, and differing distances from each other, like bubbles coming out of a bubble pipe.

The original has Dotty's in a curve across the top.

The boot has "Dotty's From Detroit" and another which is a copy of the original with the curved Dotty's.

I'm sure I've seen the multicoloured one but it was a long time ago and can find no scan of it.

Now that I think about it, I've only physically seen the Lee Jennings on the multi-coloured label. I've seen references to a multi-coloured Johnny Hampton, but, I don't even remember seeing a scan of it.

Soulful Detroit - 2002 - Joe Moorehouse said

Note that the Gail Nevilles 45 is on the same multi-colored label as some copies of Johnny Hampton, which suggests (but doesn't prove) that the first pressing of Not My Girl was yellow, then the label was redesigned prior to the second pressing.

It's the one I mentioned and posted a link to previous topic, I posted it in refosoul so when it gets up and running again you'll be able to hear it.

also on Star Track, also owned by Sonny Marshall.

Yes I got that sometime soon after Nevels came to my attention in 70's and kept it for quite a few years but it looked off-centre and sounded "draggy" but then I think the Dotty's copy sounded like that too.

No idea how rare Star Track copies are so I don't know what other copies are like.

Premium Stuff,

Is Joe Moorhouse reliable? Could he be thinking of Lee Jennings?

RobbK has a tendency to conjure records out of thin air based on conjecture. Records he'd like to own if only they had come out. Interesting exercise but he then he used to add to his wants list which gets confusing.

So the conclusion on the multi-coloured Johnny Hampton seems to be that is does not exist.

The only reference to this copy is Joe's post on Soulful Detroit I quoted above.

I have emailed Joe about this and sent him this the link to this thread.

Watch this space

Cheers
