Which group or artist have you pursued with a passion and would stop at nothing to get everything they've ever done ?

My vice would be Ruby & Romantics, there's something incredibly beautiful and wholesome about the production of Kapp records

Must admit Edward Hamilton ace voice oh so soulful "With A Willing Mind" has got to be one

of the best, underated, pleading, heart wrenching (barely known) uptempo ballads in exsistance.

DJ

can we try and answer the original question please rather than list songs you like. The original topic is a very good idea and should provide an outlet for many of you to have your say.

cheers

Marie Knight - which has resulted in a fair bit of dross and a few 78s alongside the gems.

I developed a bit of an Ernestine Anderson for a while once too but it passed.

And Black Sabbath

Maxine Brown - got a discography printed off somewhere where I've ticked off everything I've got :D Think I managed about half of her singles but then started wanting too many other things

I'm not sure i'd call it a passion, but i like The Five Stairsteps and i'm slowly buying their stuff on Windy C, Curtom and Buddah.

Also recently Carol Fran and now anything on Port is my new collection (although it's a pretty big list). I like the dinky little label

Betty Lavette - Still need her duet with Hank Ballard.

Brothers Of Soul.

Margie Hendrix (after reading a short article in Mojo stating that she had never released a solo 45 - yeah, right.)

Five Royales 60's releases.

Harold Burrage.

Betty Harris (Still want a copy of her UK Action LP).

Different issues of Gloria Taylors 'You Got To Pay The Price' - think I'm up to about 5 different ones now.

David Bowie - at one point I had literally everything ever released in the UK and as many of the variations as possible world wide, meaning I had like 18 copies of Ziggy Stardust! Had over 200 vinyl bootlegs, over 500 live tapes. I bailed out just before cd's became popular. I collect the Sex Pistols as well.

aint that such a great record if it was rare everybody would be chasing it - presume you've got it on the funky blue vinyl Silver Fox white demo which is pretty damn neat! Would be interested to know what 5 releases you've got.

cheers,

derek

must check the Billboard Top 100 book when I get home to see if she ever hit the charts with it (be it pop or RnB) they must have had great faith in the song to release it several times.

No demo's - all issues

King Soul (purple label)

Silver Fox (multi)

Silver Fox (black)

Glo-Whiz (black)

SSS International (multi)

Wouldn't mind demo's of any of the above.

"You got to pay the price" on Silver Fox 14 entered the Billboard R&B charts on 18 October 1969 peaked at no 9 and stayed in the charts for 12 weeks. Got to no 49 in the Billboard Pop charts as well.

derek

Has to be Lorraine Chandler for me. What a team she had in NYC in the 6Ts. Jack Ashford, Mike Terry and Ivy Joe Hunter, not to mention all the rest of the RCA crew.

Never managed to get a copy of Tell Me Your Mine. All her RCA recordings are awesome. Brenda Holloway not far behind though.
