Mike Posted October 27, 2005 Posted October 27, 2005 dont think happens that much nowadays but some out there must have a few "fishing" style stories of landing that catch by "fouling" (not into fishing like, but think "fouling" means when you catch a fish , not by it taking the bait but by the hook hooking it on way up) once saw a ringleaders 45 at 9.99 but no title listed or label, easy decision and yes it was cast up your catches

I thought thats worth a bid so bid the opening price and won the lot. Imagine the lot turning up and the DL is a Demo and in the lot was a copy of Clarence Ried 'I'm Your Yes Man' on a Wand Demo there was about 20 crap tunes as well but the CR made my year.
Codfromderby Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 a couple of years ago a mate put me on to gemm, sat there looking through long lists of nothing much when tucked away at the bottom of someones list, was come see whats left etc bobby hutton $25, put my order in sent off the dollars, went on gemm a couple of days later and found another copy for $25 plus a copy of the startones for $25, sold all three 45s for a tidy sum then i got really clever and bought anything off gemm that appeared on sales lists for £50+ with the intention of making a tidy profit and hearing new sounds, i have however got most of these 45s left and no money.
Gary Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Recently had a huge find in help the aged shop, amongst this lot was Franki Valli and the Four Seasons-The Night which i got for 39p, a mate almost instantly offered £40 for it but i didn't. Turned out to be a scarce first edition, apparently.
Cheapsiderecords Posted October 29, 2005 Posted October 29, 2005 Not really in the mis-filed sections but I do have a little routine when I get to work, get a coffee, log in to ebay and do a "buy it now search" in the R&B section. I have picked up Beloyd - $24.99, Arthur Freeman - $30 and Willie Hutch - $25 in the last 12 - 18 months!!!, plus lots of nice cheapies.

Kev Connellan Posted October 30, 2005 Posted October 30, 2005 I like that . How much would one cost me , Is there a US lable for this ?? I don't think it should cost much, I think mine was about $15. UK released: 1968. flip is a track called "Long time man" CBS #3277. As for a US release, not sure about this particular track, although he had plenty of stuff on Columbia. I think most of it Folk/rock though. hope this helps.
