KevH Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Not sure if its crossover but here goes..Al Green - "Got to find a new world".?
Only Dreaming Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 Was it " Africano - satisfactorize your mind "? Dave
Ged Parker Posted July 27, 2011 Posted July 27, 2011 majik ~ back into your heart Perhaps a description of the variant of the Hi lable would narrow it down. Majik is of course on the later design.

Sebastian Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 I'm looking for a great x-over tune I heard a while ago, but the only thing I remember is that it was on the Hi label and it was a man singing....anyone? This one perhaps? Gets going after 45 seconds: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=v7ZNAtyv9_E
Harrogatesoul Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 We'll see Sebastain.. I hope Tommys' busy ploughing through Hi sound files on the net as I'd like to know! He did mention the artist wasn't a well known one.. Great record above though.. I'd love to see Tommy come out with it's OV's 'We're Still Together' tremendous 45!
Garethx Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 "Looking Straight Ahead" by Darryl Carter? Seems to have been under the radar but is a competent midtempo thing. There's also Eddie McGee "What Made You Change?" or Don Bryant "What Are You Doing To My World?" or Willie Walker "Reaching For The Real Thing" or Gene MIller "What Do You Mean?" or Gene Anderson "Baby Love". As others have said lots of quality records which might fall under the Crossover heading. This is all without mentioning classics by Prince Phillip Mitchell or George Jackson or Al Green or even the record which often vies for my personal accolade as best Hi 45: "It Was Jealousy" by Otis Clay.
Harrogatesoul Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 or even the record which often vies for my personal accolade as best Hi 45: "It Was Jealousy" by Otis Clay. What....a....record...
Garethx Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 The other Africano 45, "Open Your Hearts" seems to finding more fans too.
Dave Pinch Posted July 28, 2011 Posted July 28, 2011 was gonna say darryl carter but garethx beat me to it....... brill midtempo soul 45 dave
Sebastian Posted July 29, 2011 Posted July 29, 2011 Don Bryant "What Are You Doing To My World?" Absolutely fantastic tune. I can't understand why it isn't getting more spins.
