Black Tracks 8.45 - 9.00pm

Bristol Vibes; short film using the combination of music and image, documents 24 hours of life in Bristol and inparticular its Afro-Carribean inhabitants

DJ Derek 10.20 -10.50 Featuring the story of Derek, in his 50's, pass him on the street and you could mistake him for an accountant but he is more likely to be behind record decks. Watched it last week along with the other programme I mention.........excellent and remarkable viewing about a middle aged, white, ex-accountant in Bristol, who DJ's in the Star & Garter pub that looks like it was last decorated or touched in the 60's, to a mainly Jamaican & Carribean clientelle. He's been playing to the mostly Jamaican community for over 36 years and is deemed a 'brother' to them all.Every week he makes the pilgrimage to London to the record 'Wharehouse' and picks up records people have asked him to get, as well as others for his own collection.

One of the questions he was asked about was his dislikes. His 2 main ones were; a) bad mannered people and, cool.gif anyone who abuses his records. His love of music varied from Soul, R&B, Jazz and Reggae amongst others.

Anyone who has a fondness for music (all of us) this is a must see!

this guy is soooooo funny - seen him dj around bath area - he's rubbish on the decks and he introduces records with this rediculously contrived patois dialect ( ya nuh me luv dem pretty laydeez sort of "ting") which will have you in stitches - however, he clearly loves the music and plays some brilliant tunes

if you get the chance, go and see him play cos you are guaranteed a great laugh and some good music

Creased me up where he said he hit that guy with the mallet he used for fixin' the dancefloor with after the strippers had been on.

One thing you don't mess with is someone's records.
