Grading

VG/VG+/EX/NM

I've tried to grade strictly and a VG+ record will play really well but might have some surface marks. NM is as good as it gets and even unplayed old store stock gets this grade.

I've noted any particular defects and will accept returns on any items where the buyer is not completely satisfied.

Big demand on this one right now - especially nice and collectible on a UK Action press. EX (closer to NM except for a bit of wear round spindle hole) Seen at over twice the twice on this site!

Ron Moody & The Centaurs - The New Breed - Columbia promo 20 Now 12

Old school Northern Soul stomper from this Richmond VA outfit who are still performing to this day! The New Breed is a cover of the Jimmy Holiday song that got brief spins at Wigan. Should have been the forgotten Casino spins thread maybe! Condition is NM

The Partnership - Not For Love Nor Money / Baby, If I had You - MGM 25 Now 20 Two soulful dancers on one 45 that's been getting name-checked in playlists for the last year or so. Again, considerably more expensive on many dealer lists. NM

Alton and Johnny - Hang On In There Baby - Polydor UK 15 SOLD

Excellent version of the classic where Johnny Bristol sounds better than ever and is enhanced by the presence of femme vocals by Alton Mclean. Spins in Crossover rooms and some demand from Japanese "free soul" collectors. Inst on the flip and HB Barnum at the controls. £25/30 from the big guys. EX condition

Gizella Smith + Mighty Mocambos - The Time Is Right For Love / Pt 2 - Soul Seed 8 Now 6 An interesting, uptempo take one the Bobby Reed song from a couple of years ago. Flip is an instrumental re-working with some funky flute. NM

Peaches Daniel - Day In Court - United Artists 25 Now 20

One that has been slipping under the radar as it's not sufficiently well known. The odd one goes cheaply on eBay as a consequence but it's on the wants lists of some clued up folk. First class sister funk arranged by Monk Higgins. Peaches is actually Alex Brown. Grades only VG as it looks pretty worn but check the clip to see how nicely it plays!

The Second Thought - Slingshot - Brite Leaf 25 Now 20 Funky Organ mover that's also desired by Psych collectors. Dig the keyboards? Well check those credits - Billy Arnell alert! VG as there's one big scratch but it plays good and loud as per clip.

The Dave Pell Singers - Oh, Calcutta - Liberty promo 30 Now 25

As included on the splendid 1996 library music comp "The Sound Gallery" and sampled by Quantic on 69 Police. Tough album but in my experience an even tougher 45. NM

The Razor's Edge - Gotta Find Her - Kingston 30 Now 25

If you don't know this - listen to the clip. One of my all time fave garage tunes that has some northern appeal too. The same tune was later released nationally by Pat Farrell and the Believers on Diamond, but this is the rarer, original local press. My spare copy - the other one's a keeper. VG+ with some vinyl and label wear - plays great.

The Satisfied Minds - i Can't Take It - Plato 45 Now 40

Raw fuzzy garage from Plato records - home to the Kickin' Mustangs and the Outcasts. Not an ounce of soul in this one - just pure energy. Comes in a nice Plato sleeve that has some blackening, especially on the plain back, but which looks really cool nevertheless. Vinyl is NM
