Northern Soul Uk Posted July 6, 2011 Posted July 6, 2011 Sometimes I cringe at the thought of putting alternative versions of classic Northern tunes on here, but I think this one is definitely worth a mention. Another version of 'Picture me gone' by Dave Berry. I love the version by Evie Sands and there's another by Madeline Bell too, both great. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vy4aEAopa-w
Dave Moore Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Played in Burnley (amongst other places), in the mid 70s for a few months. Hasn't aged too well though in my opinion. Regards, Dave
Pete S Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Played in Burnley (amongst other places), in the mid 70s for a few months. Hasn't aged too well though in my opinion. Regards, Dave Agree, terrible version. But on the subject of Madeline Bell, her Philips singles are all brilliant, not that many people know she did a great version of "Don't come running to me", then there's the aformentioned "Picture me gone" and a really fantastic version of "I can't wait to see my baby's face" which uses the same backing track as Dusty's LP version.
Northern Soul Uk Posted July 7, 2011 Author Posted July 7, 2011 Yes above all of the versions of this I do think the Evie Sands version stands tallest, and the Madaline Bell one a close second. I just put this up as an alternative male version. KTF
Citizen P Posted July 7, 2011 Posted July 7, 2011 Agree, terrible version. Quite often give that a spin meself Pete, stunning version of a great song for not a lot of money . Sounds like a Win/Win to me. ATB Tony
Northern Soul Uk Posted July 9, 2011 Author Posted July 9, 2011 Just managed to get the Madeline Bell version for a fiver, excellent version and cheap compared to what the Evie Sands goes for these days.
