Posted June 29, 201113 yr Hi Guys/gals, Always been intrigued by 'ghost' records & super rare discs & the stories & urban myths behind them. So thought I'd start my first thread here, so go easy on me, hope it's in the right place & hope the subject hasn't been done to death already. I'll kick off with a record by MAJOR LANCE, THINK NOTHING ABOUT IT on Okeh 7200, does this record actually exist in this format? Has anyone ever seen it & does anyone know the story why this record actually never got cut? (or maybe it did). Feel free to chip in with your own 'northern myth'. Cheers ears Aid.

July 2, 201113 yr There was a rumour going, late 70's I think it was that Fred Smith at Mirwood was really Barry White.

July 2, 201113 yr Steve and I used to submit the occasional Top 5 Plays from the Glenrothes YM niters to Echoes. One time - 'phet fuelled mischieviousness, it must be said - we invented a tune in the hope of luring some bugger into claiming they used to have it. Sadly, no one took the bait and pretended they knew Oscar Montenegro - You Fooled A Fool (Burning Beak) but a couple of lads did ask about it at the next niter...

I think more to the point 'Has had a fantastic oldies collection' over the years, but won't hang on to much if tradeable against a more urgent want - particularly oldies. In fact very little of any of his collection is sacrosanct against a more important want. Recently traded Richard Caiton - I like to get near you and Tearra - Just Loving You as just two examples that most people would take to their grave. Edited July 2, 201113 yr by Brian Ellis
July 2, 201113 yr That John Smith from down the road had a original Frank Wilson back in the day, might still have it, but doesn't really make the scene anymore so I guess we'll never know for sure. Also the US press of that Bob & Earl 45 on UK Warner Bros.
July 3, 201113 yr That David and The Giants were really The Osmonds before they became famous... That The Soul Twins were really Sam and Dave using an alias to get around contractual obligations... That 'Interplay' by Derek and Ray was going to be the theme tune to 'Coronation Street - The Movie'...
