Patto Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Any info on this atmospheric track anyone. Was i believe a Wigan spin but maybe first at Cleethorpes. Its a curious one must have been a brave DJ who championed it first. Also my copy is yellow but there is a pink coloured issue as well which one is first and which one is the least common
Guest MrC Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Great record that I have always loved, and remember from wigan. all the 3 copies I've owned have been the ones that are blue & pink. It was pressed as part of that whole spanish re-issue scene with a hand written note inside a picture sleeve on some dark blue label as well, but that was for the "Green Door" side - which was quite big in some european countries I believe, but cr*p IMHO!!
Benji Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 also came out in spain and maybe other euro countries

Guest MrC Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Alan Rhodes used to play it, along with Earnest fitzgerald "Ace in the Hole" which is another forgotten track!
Pete S Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Chris King (I think) had an unreleased version of this, I'm sure he called it Bobby Mandolph, anyway it was called Mister Teardrop instead of I'm A Teardrop and was much more midtempo. I don't like either of them. Larry Henley who co-wrote it was the lead singer of The Newbeats.
Guest MrC Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 I don't like either of them. Opposite end of the spectrum to your favourite "We got togetherness" eh Pete!
John Reed Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Also came out on Canadian SSS International, which was distributed by Quality
Pete S Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 Opposite end of the spectrum to your favourite "We got togetherness" eh Pete! I don't like that much either...I did 30 years ago...
Kris Holmes Posted June 29, 2011 Posted June 29, 2011 (edited) Great 45, "Baby, Baby Love" by them is also top notch. "I'm A Teardrop" also has a WLP I'm pretty sure. Unfortunately seems to be a bit out of favor with collectors, I had a pressing plant box of the stock copies (colored label) about 5 years back, couldn't move them for anything, ended up giving some away (practically forcing them on people) & just threw the other 30 or so that were left in the trash. Not rare Edited June 29, 2011 by Kris Holmes
