Rick, fond memories of the 'niters at the Drill Hall in Lincoln - Chris booked me on several occasions in the late 70s.

Funniest memory, playing 'Prince' 'I wanna be your lover' at 7am to a northern crowd.

Went there once - 1980 I think . Richard Searling was the guest DJ & Mr Warot made a pig of himself on the real ale in a pub in the town centre before hand ....Its a good job we had some medicine handy to revive his flaging spirits .

Was the first time I had heard a lot of Richards latest modern tracks properly away from the casino . Had a cracking night so its got me scratching my head as to why I only went the once huh.gif

Guy Hennigan and I did one or two dates there under the Soultown banner in the mid 80s. It was a great space with a fantastic floor, high ceilings and statues set in the walls. Sad to say, attendances was poor and we knocked it on the head. The funniest thing was turning up to view it and finding the masonic regalia laid out and ready for action!

All best

I remember that night martyn, l got absolutely spannered on "NUN's HABBIT", a real and potent ale, thank goodness for the "medicine", l might

have been very ill had we forgotten to bring it along!! ALSO. . it was the night l got "ANYTHING I CAN DO" by Will Collins & Willpower on 'Bareback'

records (demo) for £15 off jonathon woodcliffe. As usual we had to stop Bev Lucas from knocking 7 bells out of an innocent victim of bev's

lust for skinhead supremacy, but we had aght good night regardless although the journey across the vast county of Lincolnshire was frought with

difficulty in navigation. Oh yes, good times.

Went one Friday with Chris Plant, Dawn and Dave Shaw, Chris was a guest DJ. We asked a local for directions, he picked up a piece of wood and tried to hit the car,, what a start. When we were inside it was freezing and nobody had any fags, until during the night some enterprising locals went out and robbed some!!

It want down as a night to be talked about as one of those memorable for the wrong reasons, but still unforgettable, may have been the same night my old mate Mr Warrot was there, was around that time

I went to the nighters there including the first one, remembering hearing about the death of Nev Wherry there ,

also remember the "Prison Like" front door !

Rob

That doors still there Rob. But they changed it quite a bit now and the entrance is now at the back of the building.

while can understand the thinking behind using old threads for raising awareness for revival events

it doesn't really work well for the forums if just posting the event details

we do have an event guide where members can pass on news, info on events direct to members and we do have a news article feature

more info here on the news/article feature

https://www.soul-source.co.uk/articles/news-soul/articles-2016-soul-source/

am going to temp close this thread as best use the event guide post for any talk on the actual  event

cheers
