Patto Posted June 18, 2011 Posted June 18, 2011 Recently i put up a shout in the wants section for a second hand record case, money tight at moment so a new one was not an option.Anyway got no response so it got me thinking could i make one and for how much.I ended up after a week and after £25 spent on materials the rest salvaged from an old tool chest with the result shown below.Got a lot of satisfaction making it.The inside is lined with carpet tile and holds 150 records.Anyone else got home made boxes would love to see um up.

Guest Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 (edited) I worked for a government department in London in the early 90s, anyway we had these search lights that were becoming obsolete, stored in these lovely wooden boxes. Well I fixed one up with a partition and stained it - then put felt in it - then covered it with bespoke tailor made 6Ts rhythm n Soul stickers ! (I am an Artist) I sold this box (and its contents) to mick smith a couple of years later, but often wondered what happened to that box .... (it was cool! the stickers were bespoke and made by me copied from our membership cards and flyers from the 100 club!) and then I was browsing the photos recently on here.............. Mick was at a recent allnighter, and guess what..........there was my old box with all the 6Ts stickers that I had put on it 20 years before !!! He has been using it all these years ! Perfect ! So if you ever see that little box of Mick Smiths with the 6Ts stickers etc. on it. That was my creation ! I was really proud of it at the time - it looked so cool We had this old german devere camera that could enlarge small photos - with the negs we could make stickers and posters. that box was probably the only 6Ts designer item to have ever existed ! I also made some great original looking things on black and white kodak paper - great days ! Mossy ! Edited June 20, 2011 by dancecrasher
Patto Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 Nice one Mossy i'm sure ive seen your Box a few years ago seem to think it may have been at Keele and as you say it was a eye catcher.Back in the day all the top DJs had wooden boxes wonder where they ended up.Remember Ginger Taylor's with the WRONG SIDE OF TODMORDEN sticker in side the lid.
