They list many, many thousands of books they don't actually have at ridiculous prices. When there are no other copies available they'll just stick some outrageous price on it and wait for a mug. Upon an order they'll source a much (in this case very much) cheaper copy elsewhere. if you're listing say 250,000 books or more you don't need many mugs a day to make a good living. I've seen them list stuff like £1 Catherine Cookson common paperbacks at hundreds of quids. They only good thing about them is they make my listings look like a bargain when in fact I've even probably overpriced by a few quid myself. Edited June 17, 2011 by Dave Turner

When there are no others for sale is when sellers cock up, unless they know otherwise they have no price to compare it to and list it at say £20 when there's plenty of potential buyers who'd be happy to may a ton for it. Happens all the time, just a matter of being the first one who recognises it for what it is and grabs it quick. Can never understand why when a quite scarce and much sought after book is listed at £100 a lot of folks get in a lather and consider it an outrageous rip off when at the same time they'll happily pay £100 for a common record that can be found anytime online for £100 and on the Bay nearly every week. Where do you find that on records other than 99p on a Music For Pleasure album. IM JOKING OK
Guest MBarrett Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 I couldn't find one at a reasonable price so I got a copy through the local library and took a photocopy. Much less than a tenner all in. There was an unexpected bonus in this book for me. In the mid-late sixties I used to see a white soul/R&B group who were absolutely brilliant. Originally called the Marvin Lois Enterprise then the Shell and the Shell Shock (Road) Show. All the members lived just a few miles from me and they played around London and on the Essex live music circuit. Over the years I had wondered if they really were as good as I remembered. Or was it just youthful enthusiasm, rose-tinted spectacles etc. Anyway looking through the groups who played at the Twisted Wheel I nearly dropped the book with shock when I saw that the Shell played 2 gigs there in December 1967. It was just amazing to discover that they played on the same stage as the best of British and International soul/R&B music. After 40 years I felt totally exonerated. There is no way I would have known if it hadn't been for this book. So special thanks Keith for that!! MB

You might do better just putting them up for sale in record sales sections.

Pardon? Excuse Me? Having read this thread I can sorta/possibly/maybe see where she got that figure from....... derek Rarer than Frank Wilson and it took her 2 years to find a copy of the book...
Chalky Posted September 6, 2011 Posted September 6, 2011 Took me well over a year to get a copy of Soul harmony Singles, I searched everywhere and asked on here two or three times, actually got it on off in the end. They are working on a 2nd edition.
