Guest Launette
I am an idiot! I left my record box in the back of a cab on the 12th of May. I got the taxi from Little Portland street, t Clapton, around 1am. My friend had been helping me carry them all night and so subconsciously, I guess I thought he had carried them in from the cab. The next morning I contacted lost TFL lost property to no avail. They have not been handed in. Im guessing either the cab driver kept them or the next passenger. The box was a swan silver coloured metal flight box, containing around 100 7" singles. Most of which were Northern soul/funk/R&B If you have come across a collection like this, or suspect anything- PLEASE get in touch. There is a reward. I am heart broken about it! Guest Brian Ellis
Can you provide a list of the records you've lost? Might help if someone is trying to off-load them individually. Link to comment Social source share
Tsu Tomatoes
I did the exact same thing a few weeks back with about £3000 worth of vinyl. The first thing I did was ring up all the London record shops with a list of the more obscure items, in case they were offered them. They are surprisingly helpful and assured me they would put notices up in the shops. I also mailed every dealer I could think of as well. In the end, I had a very happy ending. After nearly 4 weeks, I had a call from TFL saying they might have my records. They did and every one of them!! Black cab drivers have to hand any lost property to a Police station and then they go onto Baker St. Your missing records are not their priority and can therefore take time to turn up. The cabbies get a fraction of your storage costs, but you can give more when you collect them like I did. Don't give up hope and I wish you all the luck with getting your records back. dthedrug
Hi All It's a awful feeling, like no other, and can make you quite ill, Don't blame yourself as that just makes the situation worse, with all loss issues try and accept the fact that they have gone, And although it's horrible they can all be replaced, in time, As recommended do a list, and phone the local second hand record shops as you never no and most shops are pretty upfront these days, also can you contact the Taxi firm and state that you want to speak to the driver, to locate who and where his next pick up and drop off was, the Old Bill can do this for you as by law a cab has to keep a log, so the you can check the local area shops. Good Luck and make that list. if not for Soul Source you can Email it to all the record shops, it could just pay dividends for you! Barry
Done the same thing on three occasions over the years, you think you'd learn. Twice left boxes in cabs, and I hope this helps, got them back. The other case I put down at the side of my passenger side door to put them in the car, then walked round to the driver side for some reason, opened the door and drove home. Someone got a nice gift. Amsterdam Russ
According to the TFL website, items left in the back of cabs are first handed in to local police stations. From there it can take seven days before the item ends up with lost property. So, keep checking back with them! Lost Property Note that there are three or four major black cab fleets in London, and these may be worth contacting as well. Off the top of my head you have: Radio Taxis, Dial-a-Cab & Computer Cab. There will be others. Of course, your driver may not belong to one of these firms, but between them they probably represent a good percentage of all black cabs in London. Good luck! Oh, just noticed you say you lost them 12th May! Still worth checking with the all the black cab fleets. Edited June 9, 2011 by rigilbert Link to comment Social source share
Hammersoul
Was it a `Black` cab you lost em in or minicab? Reason i ask is i drive a Black cab and might be able to help and point you in the right direction of getting them back. Also did you engage in conversation with driver about sport/Music/politics/life etc, this mighthelp in trying to locate/trace driver. This is everyone`s worst nightmare. Edited June 10, 2011 by Hammersoul Link to comment Social source share
