Today's Soulful Sound Of Detroit
detroit records
It's always nice when a Record Promoter involves you in some pre-release tracks and that's what Dave Thorley did about four or five years ago when he handed me a local release CD of new music out of Detroit.
Now, some two years later, Dave & Malayka have managed to release not only tracks from that original CD but with the help from Detroit writer and arranger Tim King, have pulled together a great mix of sounds.
The stand out track was and still is The Funk Factor's "Give it What Cha Got" but it's a close runner with the likes of Faschone - "Come Inside", Forte - "Anytime You Need Love" and Anita Marie Hill's "Our Flame".
Modern Soul, R&B through 2step and love ballads, this album offers a great insight to the music being produced locally on theWestside of the city. From the sleevenotes you can clearly see this has gone through the hands of some notable Producers and Arrangers, seven in total and well over twenty musicians; it's goes to show the studio time these guys have put into the album.
Dave say's there's two format's that the album is available; LP and CD with the LP being a limited run, so for the vinyl addicts its best to get in touch with Dave at www.topdogrecords.co.uk as quick as possible, cos these are gonna sell.
Happy listening
Steve Lloyd
