Northern Soul Uk Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 A friend of mine has just bought a tune by 'Deon Jackson - Love takes a long time growing'. He says it is on red 'Calla' with black print, and he says it looks and feels like a pressing. He has asked me to find out about it for him. Can anyone please let me know the difference between Orig' and Pressing i.e. label, colours, markings etc. Also he wants to know where it was played and what it is worth. My friend is technophobic, doesn't have a pc or laptop, and doesn't know how to upload pictures to me to put on here. So all info received with be sent to him via text. Any help appreciated! Thank you
Phild Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 It's on Carla not Calla. Don't believe it was booted. There may have been a few represses at the time though as it was a fairly big seller. Phil
Only Dreaming Posted May 17, 2011 Posted May 17, 2011 I'm with Phil on this, pretty sure it wasn't booted on Carla. The differences in label print and colour are due to different pressing plants being used. Also, I'm not 100% sure, but don't all of his Carla releases have the 'AT' (Atlantic distribution) marking in the deadwax? Best, Dave
Northern Soul Uk Posted May 17, 2011 Author Posted May 17, 2011 I have looked on Youtube for the record, and all of the images point to the record having silver print, and my friend says his is black print? Also the label is Carla and not calla as first written.
