Guest ShaneH Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Can anyone confirm what these dances were and how they were performed? Shing-a-ling Larue etc etc... Shane
Guest rachel Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Shing-a-ling... according to Shirley Ellis "just go from side to side, and back and forth, and clap your hands, and so forth and so on, and oooh, kinda nice isn't it?" Seriously, there was a discussion on another forum about some of these dances and sure there were some links/ diagrams posted up, I'll see if I can find them.

Guest 71TRSC Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 You can see how to wah tusi by watching quadrophenia. I often do it when I get the chance. Theres not enough of it going on at nighters thats for sure. Basically jumping up while rotating through 90 degress whilst waving alternate hands in the air. Or something like that.
Guest rachel Posted October 14, 2005 Posted October 14, 2005 Instructions and pictures... https://www.sixtiescity.com/Culture/dance.shtm I do hope we're going to be seeing you trying some of these out, Shane
Guest Richard Bergman Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 Whispers - The Dip God knwos what you do , but I reckon you have to dip at some stage Whispers - The Dip Gawd knows what how you do it, I imagine it involves "dipping"
Guest Matt Male Posted October 15, 2005 Posted October 15, 2005 (edited) Blues Brothers film was useful when everyone was dancing to shake a tail feather, they went through about six different dances, boogaloo, monkey, watusi, mashed potato, etc... that was a brilliant site Rachel so which sixties dance gave rise to northern as we know it...?
