Guest soulmaguk Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 What it is, is that John Fred & Playboy Band Hey Hey Bunny was played on Saturday night on the Craig Charles Funk & Soul. Has this record ever been broken big on the Northern scene? if so when & where? Jock.
Guest Dave Turner Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 (edited) One of the first "northern" tracks I heard back around late '71 and as Ady states even earlier than that. The local "Torch" guys used to spin it locally in 72 Edited May 9, 2011 by Dave Turner
Ady Croasdell Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 PS It's a cracker and now available on Kent's Northern Soul's Guilty Secrets CD which I was hoping I'd get a lot more stick for!

Guest Polyvelts Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 Is the ann d andrea the vocal ? The instru was the big 'un (as they say!)
Ady Croasdell Posted May 9, 2011 Posted May 9, 2011 There wasn't an instrumental on the flip of the original. If one did emerge I don't remember it. There are hardly any instruments on it!

Ady, when it was reissued on Jamie, they put a very good instrumental on the B side, if I remember correctly an electric organ took the place of the vocal.
Ady Croasdell Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 But you'd lose all that soulful vocal As it was a reissue, it was obviously the vocal that went big first. Thanks for the info.
Guest soulmaguk Posted May 10, 2011 Posted May 10, 2011 Decided to get the RONN one-sided demo for £2.56, but have seen it on British PYE Int. and now Paula, I actually like it, you guys obviously did back in the early 70s, I'm sure it could have something for a younger audience for todays main hall dancefloor crowd.

I love both sides !! Love the burning bush as well ! Dunno about 'its too late' Heard Bobby Goldsboro 'Too many people' at elaine C's thing in Stoke Newinton and was shocked with myself at how great I thought it was
