Miss Wasperella Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 Good evening - just wondered if anyone could help identifying a record and possibly the artiste - Think it may be called "Summer Time" very upbeat - would appreciate any help - Cheers - heard at Cleethorpes Winter Gardens and Clifton Hall early 80's. I've tried to find it myself but failed miserably - Massive thanks to anyone who can help x

jocko Posted May 3, 2011 Posted May 3, 2011 HIgh Frequency Summertime I would have thought for these venues, 80's bongo led thing with a great intro,a\nd repeated chorus of Hot Fun In Summertime, geat record at the time, not heard it for many years as like most 80's its been discarded.
Ian Dewhirst Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 east coast connection - summer in the parks - soul-tbc Ian D
Guest Byrney Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 (edited) HIgh Frequency Summertime I would have thought for these venues, 80's bongo led thing with a great intro,a\nd repeated chorus of Hot Fun In Summertime, geat record at the time, not heard it for many years as like most 80's its been discarded. Or the rarer Curtis Hairston Version played around this time, or perhaps a bit later. Think Sam used to play it curtis hairston - summertime - pretty pearl Edited May 4, 2011 by Byrney
Cunnie Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 High Frequency 100% Sean Agreed Sean. The soundclip above from refosoul is my 12" copy that used to be shared by Adrian & Crofty. Don't make it worth any more but to me it's priceless.
Sean Hampsey Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I used to play the 45 Martin. Hardly ever missed a night at Clifton, Cleggy or KGB without playing it. Top bit o' 80's :0) Sean
Cunnie Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 Leroy Burgess at his best. Normally play it alongside Dazzle - You Dazzle Me. Sound so good together.

Naughty Boy Posted May 4, 2011 Posted May 4, 2011 I used to play the 45 Martin. Hardly ever missed a night at Clifton, Cleggy or KGB without playing it. Top bit o' 80's :0) Sean kinnel not heard for years
Cunnie Posted May 5, 2011 Posted May 5, 2011 kinnel not heard for years Along with many others it's such a hard record to play Rob. Too new & Disco'y for the Northern crowd. Too fast & Funky for the Crossover crowd & now too old for most of the Modern crowd. Bloody sounded good in the last hour on Sunday night in the Modern room at Brid last year though. Where were you Rob
Miss Wasperella Posted May 8, 2011 Author Posted May 8, 2011 Well I just hope they revive it for Brid Weekender this year - lets have it xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
