Came across Jackie Wilson doing a sensational verison of Lonely Teardrops on the TV show Shindig c. 1966 backed by Billy Preston on the organ. Was this version ever released on vinyl?

That clip has been posted up and taken down several times, stunning totally agree, sadly don't believe available.

Do you know the story behind Lonely Teardrops? Originally written as a ballad - you can hear that version on the Pledging my love lp, then late one night Jackie and Carl Davis were in the studio and came up with the idea of speeding it up, they loved the recording so much they called up Berry Gordy in the early hours - he co-wrote it - to play it to him, call woke him up, he listened to it and hated it so much almost burst into tears, "You've ruined my song!". Am pretty sure he stopped crying when the royalty cheques started arriving.

This IS on a 45 release...............I'll get the info off it for you and the flip, in case it's listed for that side for sale. IT IS ON 45...woo hoooo

This version is on Brunswick 55280....The track is actually called, "I'm so lonely".....It is actually the flip of "NO PITY( in the naked city ). You could even have it...which would be funny.

I think this is the version that came out in the UK as the B side to I Believe I'll Love On on Coral about '65. When he came over here he sang this updated version sadly without Billy Preston on the organ!
