Guest Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 I know the KoKo USA press is a grail but I've just picked up a white label 7" with 'TT' written on one side - deadwax matrix JM 001 - I Shazamed it and it came back with the above? Shazam didn't know the flip - it definitely sounded 80s...? Anybody? Ta...M
Stillsoulin Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Hi, I too have the white lable thing, not sure if its legit tho, But I also have it on Grapevine 2000 which is. Rob h.
Steve G Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 The white labvel thing is a boot. The Grapevine mix is different to the Koko 7" mix. Cheers Steve
Trafficmaster Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 mark if it is the one i think it is the other side is a 90,s track by byron miller taken of from memory a jap cd called "git with me" track is called "got to get it right" from memory regards dave lucas
Steve Plumb Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 (edited) It came out legit on Grapevine in 2003 but it wasn't the Koko version it was the unreleased 'smoother' version which was on the late 90's Jap CD. It's available HERE by the way The white label was a late 90's boot which i think had 'Byron Miller - Got to get it right' on the other side? Again this was the Jap CD version! So no, the Koko version has never been released in the UK Cheers Steve Edited April 21, 2011 by Steve Plumb
Harrogatesoul Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 Mark, yes it is a bootie. The 2 Steves' said above! As pointed out only the Grapevine issue is legit and that being a different mix to the US Koko release. The plain white label gives it away really - Have had a few things like that over the years. GREAT record tho
Guest Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 (edited) Thought it was a bit too lame to command $1000.00... Well - if anybody needs a copy of that white label, then I have one here - ok? Thx...to all who chipped in....M Edited April 21, 2011 by Guest
Chris Anderton Posted April 21, 2011 Posted April 21, 2011 I had the honour of playing the very rare (still the only one?) Koko version at Albrighton a few years back when Ian brought it up. The Jap CD version is probably the better version. The Koko version has a heavy electric guitar over it..... Chris 1

Chris Wonderfully rare Chris - Don't know how many copies there are but I understand Steve G has one too - Seem to remember the seller on ebay had 2 copies? Southern soul holy grail or at least one of 'em!
Chalky Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Isn't there a look-a-like boot/re-issue as well of this?? What is the take on the Tommy Tate cd released recently by kent? Same as the original 45 or the "smoother" take?
Guest Sam Joseph Posted April 11, 2019 Posted April 11, 2019 Tommy Tate & James “Deak” Johnson and myself Sam Kazery recorded upward of original 300 Tommy Tate songs together since 1979 til his end. RIP I believe it’s best that this exclusive catalog needs to be exploited...I welcome bids on the complete catalog both released and unreleased...A wealth of material that captures Tommy’s vocals for a 30 years. 601-826-5509 text before you call and/or email sjkazery@gmail.com Write: Sam Kazery 346 Heritage Pl. Smudger Posted April 12, 2019 Posted April 12, 2019 also released by Kent Town 143 https://www.discogs.com/Tommy-Tate-Luther-Ingram-If-You-Got-To-Love-Somebody-Trying-To-Find-My-Love/release/4737259 1
Mal C Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 The Kent 45 Reissue actually came out first than the Grapvine one... I love it so much I bought both copies....
John Siret Posted April 15, 2019 Posted April 15, 2019 I think the Grapevine 2000 (2003) came before the Kent release. Says on the Kent 45 release taken from the Kent CD, which is a 2007 release. Great record one of my favourites.
Mal C Posted April 16, 2019 Posted April 16, 2019 That’s strange as I bought both as i thought they were released, anyhow it seems my memory is essentially crap! Lol on a more interesting note, if I have the Kent and Grapevine do I have the two mixes covered, or is the koko 45 still different
