Wow! Not had this one before...The Capitols over looked Detroit dancer, 'I Got To Handle it' on a French Atco 45 (not EP)...with an art cover! Sound reproduction is loud and crisp...nice!

I have the book of French EP releases/covers, but not seen a listing for the 45's...had the Loretta Williams', 'Baby Cakes' and Ben E.King 'I Can't Break The News...', so what else NS-wise made it to a one- track- per-side 7" 45 over in France?

Merci bien!

Plenty of Northern 45s in France.

Two three that spring to mind:

Willie Hutch- Love runs out - RCA

Linda Jones - I can't take it - Warner Bros (?).

And one from the 70s I recently snapped up: Sammy Gaha - Thank you thank you - Barclay (first label, canadian Right On came one year later)

Hi Dave (and Benji),

You're right...if books with all French 4 tracks EP's exists...there's nothing about the one-track-per -side 7" 45's, it's a very hard and long work to do...as nobody knows what really came out in France in this format.

The EP's production was stopped around 1966, so from 66 to 70's (and after) all the 7" records were only with one track-per-side mostly with picture sleeves (except juke box 45's)

Some case 45s also came out during the EP period (before 66) but more rarely (few tamla stuff, UA , Abc...) mainly for juke box or promotion

Me & my friend Stephane (doc) Yver from France are trying to find, locate and list all of these soul-NS 45's for more than 15 years, but we're always discovering new records as there's plenty of major labels (Vogue, Atco, Roulette, Barclay, Mgm, UA, Atlantic, Stax, Tamla Motown...) and small labels (AZ, Disc Jockey, Soul Rec...)., with thousand of references (feat. lots of pop, country, rock...)

Few labels are complete but majority are incomplete.

The best thing we could do is to contact French authority responsible for rights and copyrights on the music (BIEM until 1967-68 become SACEM after) and try to have a copy or access of complete listing of records taken out to this time...but what a mission to contact an administration, it is as to ask produce one you with Sarkozy!...complicated

Merci et   bient´t

Romain
