adamt Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Guys just wondering which is the rarest version of the Dickie Wonder - Nobody Knows on Sound of Soul? Was thinking of selling mine and somehow have it in my head that the SS217671 without girls is the rare one?
Guest audiavant Posted April 5, 2011 Posted April 5, 2011 Mr Manship has the one with the girl chorus on this week.Yours is the first release, maybe wait and see how much that one makes and judge accordingly.

( I would have thought this is the most desirable) The version With the girl backing singers is the Camoe Parkway distributed Sound Of Soul. When Camoe Parkway picked this record up for national distribution, they added the backing singers! Years later it got a release on Golden Triangle, but by this time it could have been the early 70's! Edited April 5, 2011 by Guest
funkyfeet Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 The release Without the girl backing singers is the local first label Sound Of Soul. ( I would have thought this is the most desirable) WHY surely if you prefer the girl backing singers then that's the most desirable, this thing about first issue is bollocks surely it's about the quality of a record to one's ears that makes it desirable to one's self. Simply can't get around the argument that I would like to own a version that I didn't particular like just because it's the first version. Guest Posted April 6, 2011 Posted April 6, 2011 (edited) It was another member who said they prefered the Girl backing version, not me! Both good, but I prefer the first version without the backing singers, as it sounds more Northern and harder edged to me. I agree with you, that with any record, it should be what's in the grooves that count!! Edited April 6, 2011 by Guest

My good old dad got me the Golden Triangle copy off a punk rocker he worked with, along with Ronnie Fotre - Whisky Talking for a £1 the pair. The strange world of Northern Soul hey. Premium Stuff Posted April 8, 2011 Posted April 8, 2011 (edited) I have this on Sound of Soul without the girlie backing and also a copy on Golden Triangle - what do they both go for these days please? I'm contemplating selling but depends on what I would get for them. Cheers Richard Edited April 8, 2011 by Premium Stuff
