Mike Lofthouse Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 Would it be Bernie Wiliams 'Ever Again' on Brian Matthew's Sounds Of the 60's' the week before last ? Always plays some good Soul included 'Send My Baby Back' by Freddie Hughes last week.
Missing Link Posted March 28, 2011 Posted March 28, 2011 More than likely it would have been on Brian Matthew's Sounds of the Sixties. Here's a track listing: https://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b00zp3sr#segments
Guest turntableterra Posted April 3, 2011 Posted April 3, 2011 yes it was bernie williams, i pick brian mathews up by a sunday evening and you can always guarantee phil thecollector will slot in a few northern tracks and describe them as such. thingsas hard as to the ends of the earth by tony middleton and you get a bit of blurb with them, it must b a bit of a craze this northern thing as paul ogrady, tony blackburn do the same.

Not a craze, I've been listening to this show since the early 90's (still have tapes of some of them) and they've always played a couple of Northern sounds and described them as such. I once won a Minit Records box set as a competition prize back in 1993.

Definately seems to be more soul content these days I reckon, such a great show especially if your in the car for a good singalong, almost as good as Elaine EP Paige on a Sundays but maybe I've said too much....
