Not too familiar with records as this was passed down/found by another family member and I offered to check around on the internet for it for them, is it actually worth anything? Apparently it was one of 5 copies of it brought back by a friend of his from Canada likely in the 80s when he was younger.

As far as I'm aware from the record all I can gather is this information:

Janice by Skip Mahoney

45 RPM

B Side: I'm guessing is 'Don't stop me now'?

It's just in a basic white paper case with no artwork or anything, sorry for the lack of info but thats all I can gather from anywhere on the record

Cheers in advance

Does it even have a label on it???

Chances are if it's just a plain white label with hand written pen on, and the plastic is a bit thicker, it's just a carver.

The song itself has a US release and UK release. The Salsoul US release goes for more than UK, with a white Salsoul demo fetching £70-100 i'd say.

I think he's talking about the sleeve as opposed to the label mate.

I think she means it's just a white sleeve? If its on the 'Underworld' label it is worth around £45 although its not very popular anymore and difficult to sell as I have discovered!

Thanks for the replies, I was talking about the sleeve yeah, it's more or less completely white with most of the basic information written on it from my first post. I don't think atleast from just looking at the record there's any way I can tell what label it's on because there's nothing there aside from the track name, then again that might be enough to tell me that it isn't on anything reputable?

As far as I can make out..

on the A side it says in small faint lettering/marking:

MPO

12 "Lindy?" or "Undy?" 1 A

Then on the B side just the exact same, except obviously with 1 B instead of A

I can't really make out what the word says, but I think it might be Undy, wondering if anyone has any idea?

If you take a pic of it on your phone, you can post it up here, or email it to one of us and we'll do it. We'd be interested to see. thumbsup.gif

Will do, I'll get on doing that right now  I'll edit this post when I've got a photo, shouldn't take long

Edit much quicker than expected: The camera on my phone is 5 megapixels, which apparently isn't near enough to be able to give an even half decent photo of the markings on the deadwax, my sister has a much better camera which I might be able to use at some point but I've no idea when, shame really!

Sounds to me like you have the 12" underworld white label UK test press.

Would say it is probably the rarest of all the copy's out there as seen far more US Salsoul 7" & 12" copy's & also more UK 7" Underworld issues.

Sadly this does not reflect in it's value. Used to command around £100 but I think 1/2 that would be a fairer price these days.

Alright thanks for the confirmation, or atleast speculation rather  do you think it would be worth posting up on here to see if there's interest or has it genuinely dwindled? Might just stick it up and see how it goes, can always refer to this thread in the post

Nah mate this is a classic, still don't know if yours is a 7" or 12".

Keep the info coming.. thumbsup.gif

Any joy with yer sister's phone?

When it came out on Underworld the 7" had a white label with the printed one in the bag to stick on later, at lease some did as my mate Steve B had one, in fact i think he still has it with the lables in the bag.

Cheers John

The Underworld 12" came with labels attached (or mine did), was the 12" any longer than the 7? Got it indoors somewhere but sure I'll forget all about it to check by the time I get home rolleyes.gif

Sold my US 7" on here a year or two back for 100quid but took a long time to shift it

I'll take a photo of the record itself later on today just so you can actually see what it looks like, then i'll try and get the better camera as soon as possible and see if its possible to get a decent photo of the deadwax

Yeh mine has labels attached to the 7" may just have been Stevie's. Also a white label 12" boot was knocking about during the Warrington Parr hall era, i got one there.

Its been reissued by Salsoul, and a Soulvation labeled copy is doing the rounds if i'm not mistaken hence demand is well supplied in my view thats why there is a slowness selling them.

Cheers John

Oh forgot also a version by Frank Wilson as well....
