Wiganer1 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 mylestones on andre,,,royal vibes on bee = others,,,,,,,,does this 45 have any fans out there?
Pete S Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 (edited) I've got to admit, more than any other record, The Joker was the record which made me realise there was a difference between the normal soul we heard at our youth club disco, and Northern Soul, the beat was so driving, just relentless, I bought this (on Cherub) not knowing what Northern Soul was, within a couple of months I was a worshipper! Do I like it? Not much, but if you took that laughing off, then yeas, superb Edited March 21, 2011 by Pete S

Goldsoul Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Anyone who attended the first SoultripUSA in LA 2004 may have run into Leonard Grayson, the brother of Miles. He was the voice of the Joker on Andre.
Paul R Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 I accidently bought a version by "Butch Barker":hatsoff2: on a uk lable(Poss Creole?). Obviously one of the cash in attempts mid 70s. I thought someone had release the Milestones version as its c/u name. That'll teach me to read labels properly!. I did have a version, I can't remember the group, but I'm sure the Label was Way Out West. It sounded like the Watts Band version slowed down. Paul

It was my favorite track for a long, long time...

It has the B side of the original.
Spacehopper Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 have to admit i like the milestones although i agree a bit too much laughing... its probably a nostagia thing for me as it was one of the first northern tunes i had on black magic and still got...got it off my older bruv he had a spare to be honest cant remember the last time i heard it out and actually mentioned that on here not long ago on a thread about hearing the same old oldies played over and over..still gets a good price when ive seen it on ebay too..the original that is not the black magic !! dean
Geeselad Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Absolutly love the milesstones, porper "off it" northern in iMHO, really apt use in soulboy.
Ernie Andrews Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Alwasy reminds me of my Time at Blackpool Casino in the mid 70s because it reminded you of the laughing clown in his box on the pleasure beach whic the casino was the entrance to. I love this to bits. Similar backing track to Dirty hearts which was often played after it. Never owned an original but wouldnt mind one for posterity!
Wiganer1 Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 paid 200 for my andre copy and have only played it out once...
Tomangoes Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Seriously, HOW did that conversation startup?? One for the 'Northern' pub quiz for sure. Ed
Patto Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 Always prefered the Royal Vibes version on Bee.No laughter but great intro and pounding beat.Got played at the Casino oldies anniversaries. This is the dancers version for sure
SHEFFSOUL Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 ...first heard the mylestones at the queens hall niter in '74..it was played relentlessly...
