Kev Connellan Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Morning all, just been asked if I can accept payment by US cheque/money order from a U.S. buyer. Never used anything other than Paypal/cash for overseas sales before, so this is new to me. To avoid getting it wrong or having to pay any sort of fees at this end, what do I need to know about: 1> US cheque cashed in UK Bank (Natwest). 2> money order 3> electronic transfer 4> Western Union thanks in advance for any help Kev.C.
pikeys dog Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 Used Western Union before - it's a right ballache - you have to go to a Western Union agents to collect it - seem to remember there being a collection fee as well.
Dylan Posted March 20, 2011 Posted March 20, 2011 i've done international bank transfers (IBAN ?) but never to USA only other european countries. I had to phone up my bank and get some kind of reference number and there were small fees but it was hassle free and fast.
Larsc Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 I've had IBAN from a US bank. First attempt failed cos the bank didn't know what it was. Second attempt was successful. The fees can be paid by sender or receiver or shared between both.
