Ian Parker Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Does anyone know of the situation regarding this tune? rarity, availability, price etc ? Debbie found it on one of the old Scenesville tapes and thought it an idea to see if its within our reach. ta

Cheltsoulnights Posted March 17, 2011 Posted March 17, 2011 Not aware of a copy for sale in Modern times. Butch, Arthur Fenn and Soul Sam being owners? Anyone confirm?
Chalky Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Not aware of a copy for sale in Modern times. Butch, Arthur Fenn and Soul Sam being owners? Anyone confirm? Has Arthur got one? Can't remember! Mick H has one.
Pete S Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I thought the first copy was found in the States and went to Andy Rix, circa 2001? He definitely had it.
Chalky Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I thought the first copy was found in the States and went to Andy Rix, circa 2001? He definitely had it. Andy/Rob Thomas had it but think Rod's the first. Sure both will read this so can give the facts.
Ian Parker Posted March 18, 2011 Author Posted March 18, 2011 Thank you for the info guys .....................it will still be one of my fav tunes, even if i don't have a copy Debbie x
Chalky Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 arthur played it at lifeline chalky i think.... I should pay more attention :-) Three of Lifeline's residents have the record.
Simsy Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Good record, rare record, but a smidge overrated for me and the production values seem to be all over the place from the one's I've heard.
Gene-r Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I absolutely love The Hurting Is Over. Was released in Stereo, so don't know if it's late 60s, or an early '70s track. There's not much info around about the Mars La Tour label.
Kjw Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 There was a thread on here some time ago where Andy Rix gave all the info on the label and owner I thought there were 4 known copies - Butch, Mick H (Andy Rix's copy), Soul Sam and Mark Hopes
Simsy Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Isn't he a chef or similar these days - Arthur Willis?
cressy Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 I should pay more attention :-) Three of Lifeline's residents have the record. One of the Black Bull residents (Bentinck backroom boys) have the record
Agent45 Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 (edited) Isn't he a chef or similar these days - Arthur Willis? Nobody knows for sure. The cook/chef story originated from Carl W. Queen (deceased), who owned the label. Countless phone calls were made to multiple states, all of which were dead ends. One of the Arthur Willis's contacted was highly amused as he had fielded a handful of calls from people looking for him, and wished he was the right fella since he must be important. In any event, this is a cold case. I know plenty about the label, and f*ck all about the artist. Edited March 18, 2011 by Agent45
Chalky Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 One of the Black Bull residents (Bentinck backroom boys) have the record I know, Mark's already been mentioned. I was referring to the fact that 3 others at lifeline could have played it.
Chalky Posted March 18, 2011 Posted March 18, 2011 Sadly no , Arthur Thought I was losing a few more marbles there Arthur. Didn't think you had one.
