I have an original copy of The Ringleaders - Baby What Has Happened To our Love on MPAC, which I bought from The Soul Bowl in the late 70's when it was their record of the week/ month, can't remember which. Can someone help me with a value.

sold a vg+ copy for £100 just last night. probably worth £150 for a minter. was selling for double 3 or 4 years ago. i did post it in sales for £125 recently and it never sold. hope this helps. either way if it were a soul pack record which my first copy was ( and ive had 3 copies) you `d make a tidy profit if you sell

Soul Bowl had 100's of copies, it was a big seller in Chicago too wasn't it (BobA?) Why it commands so much for something you see almost all the time on ebay I'll never know.

i agree chalks that its fairly common. but like a lot of common northern tunes( ruby andrews, jackmontgomery etc) its the timeless quality of whats in the grooves that keeps selling them. as i said thats my third copy and i only let it go to fund an all time want and i know if i want one back i`ll always get one

Seen a few copies over the years that have been well used and in poor condition which makes you think it must have been a pretty popular record at the original time of release, still have my first Soul Bowl copy which is still nice and clean lol think it was 4 quid.

It's not on ebay that often, and when it is the condition can be poor.

I bet there's one a week somewhere? There's one on ebay now.

I heard Soul Bowl got at least 800 copies. Sure I read it sold in it's 1000's in the US, sure BobA can add more to this. I wouldn't pay more than £50 bout the same as plenty of othe rqulaity records you don't see as often or been around in such quantity. But if others happy to pay a 3 figure some that's their choice.

A popular early classic /northern tune theres alot probably stuck in attics up and down the country along with "other gems,"we all know folk who was on the scene and no longer are but were collectors.

In Mansfield alone theres quite alot :D

:D Hi All...I know what I'm gonna say about the Ringleaders, one of my all time greats! as I have said it 4 times already, my last copy tat I got from Dave Shaw for £3 I sold to TOP Midlands Collector DJ TED M for £6, he was happy and I was blocked & p**said. great record Demo are hard,SOUL BOWL copy if I remember right was £2.50 in early 76 it was much rarer in 73, and I cant place where or who used to play it as it was not until the mid 80's that the demand was there for it and in the 90's the prices went silly,

Writing about it again makes me want it again anyone got a copy for swapping, don't do money no more as I ain't got any?? DAVE KIL

I don't disagree that this is a fantastic top drawer Northern Soul record, always been one of my favourites. Just the price I have an issue with considering how many copies are out there. Like I said up to the buyer.

Soul BOwl supplied them all to outlets like Pep's, he sold them for £3 each and we presumed they were represses at the time, in fact I've had people sell me collections with this and John Bowie in and I've had to tell them that they are not pressings and are worth considerably more than the £3 we [aid for them in 77. I bought Mr Searlings copy off him at Wigan incidentally, he must have had a reading problem at the time as on the sleeve he'd written the artist name as The Ringmasters. Of course 2 weeks later, it was everywhere.
