Help appreciated. Phil. There are at least three - 1) The US Single 2) The album version with the long, psychedelic intro, horns overdubbed and the (for want of a better word) 'dub' breakdown in the middle 3) The UK single edit (on the second release) which is an edit of the album version. I suspect that you have heard either of the latter.
Philb Posted March 11, 2011 Author Posted March 11, 2011 Cheers Tony, I think it may be the 2nd UK release i'm after as it sounds like a edited version to me, it starts off with a faded in string intro a bit similar to Gloria Hill on Deep then the horn section kicks in. Phil.
Wilxy Posted March 11, 2011 Posted March 11, 2011 Having recently purchased the edsel double CD there are as Tony stated three different versions ,two of which are included in the bonus tracks being indeed the US single version and UK single edit.

Phil. I can;t remember the catalogue number off the top of my head, but if that's the one you want, it's on the silver-print-on-black-background Hot Wax. The US issue also came out here, that's on a black-print-on-white-background Hot Wax.
Larsc Posted March 12, 2011 Posted March 12, 2011 HWX 102 100 proof aged in soul - somebody's been sleeping / i'fe come to save you (10/70) HWX 108 100 proof - somebody's been sleeping / i've come to save you (8/71)
Stillsoulin Posted March 13, 2011 Posted March 13, 2011 Hot Wax 108 came out on the black and white and the black and siver lable design so you need to check the numbers too, as an aside there is also a version by The Main Ingredient on UK RCA 2034 released in 1970, but lacks the power of the 100% proof cheers Rob h.
