Ady Croasdell Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 My favourite's Pat Thomas on Verve, it always goes down great at the end of the 100 Club. Ady
Guest micksmith Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 PREFER MADALINE BELL'S VERSION ON PHILLIPS.
Guest Posted August 6, 2004 Posted August 6, 2004 Spyder Turner on his 'Stand by me' album does it for me Stamford
shute Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 Aretha Franklin on Columbia such a satifying version 'ooooooooozzzzzzzzeeeeeeesssssssss' with soul
Guest Kolla Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 Didn't Dionne Warwick do a version too? Sure did ... I've got it on her 1975 "Then Came You" album which also has "Move Me no Mountain" .. my ultimate favourite Dionne Warwick song.
Guest Kolla Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 On the subject of Bacharach babes, Dusty Springfield's version of "Can't wait to see my baby's face" is beautiful too. Oh choices, choices. BTW - Stamford are you able to do an RA? I've never heard Spyder's version before. RE. The poll on this subject How many versions of this song are there??? Could this be a possible exception to that lovely NS rule... "the original the best"
Chalky Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 BTW - Stamford are you able to do an RA? I've never heard Spyder's version before. I can and have this somewhere, will post it when I find it.
Chalky Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 I can and have this somewhere, will post it when I find it. Found it..... tried to load an mp3pro but wouldn't let me, same size roughly as an RA/RM but the quality is the same as an MP3. You'll have to do with shitty RA ;-)

Jo Law Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 Judi Johnson did a good version of this as well on HMV
Guest Kolla Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 You'll have to do with shitty RA ;-) Brilliant! Cheers Chalky. My real player kept crashing. I've just spent an hour downloading the latest version - it's still crashing . Curses. I'll have to wait till I can play it via my work PC, monday.
Garethx Posted August 7, 2004 Posted August 7, 2004 What about the similarity between I Can't Wait Until... and the Pearl Dowdell and Little Beaver 45s "It's All Over" on Saadia. Both excellent sides too.

I'll have to wait till I can play it via my work PC, monday. Kolla, download Jet Audio. It plays all formats including Real Audio. Will convert to real audio straight from cd etc (not that you should ;-) ). I used to swap players weekly but have had Jet Audio for months and use nothing else. It's a larger download but well worth it. You should allow mp3pro to be posted, half the size of an mp3 but no loss of audible quality. MP3pro at 40 or 32 kbps is about the same size as an RA at 56kbps conversion rate.
