Guest VepT5 Posted March 5, 2011 Posted March 5, 2011 I've got the Leroy Brown 45, 2 great sides mine came with the press release sheet. has anyone ever given it any spins out?
dthedrug Posted March 6, 2011 Author Posted March 6, 2011 Hi All and many thanks Ricky, the Pornodisc is a Island/Philip's press, I am always looking for spin offs from this label and all the labels that followed, both soul and reggae, and there was a time i had the hairy stuff as well/ my fav is radio London he final hour, Go GO Texaco well it,s £10 which is well cheap for such a rare oddity + it's hard core, item will be posted in a plain envelope (traditional)/ the Leroy Brown as stated 2 great sides, I first played it at least 10 years ago, it got Roger Nichols attention very quick, and he really does say what he thinks , so knowledgeable is Roger, it is a record that has not been played as fa as i no, value well it's still out there in very small numbers, not seen a issue? so it's £1 from charity shops OR car boots, the York 45 is by ? but I assume it's Lovelace Watkins. this so easy could have been a Wigan spin GGGRRRR I here you say, but like it or not over 90% of Casino punters were not record collectors as we all have OBD & OCD, OUR HIGHS from collecting is on par with crack, always chasing the euphoric parches. the Wigan pop stompers or Tailor made record was never aimed at me or you or the DJ who played them, as they got paid to endorse these records by Pye & SELECTORDISC. A couple of years back I posted pictures of RCA acetates of future grapevine releases, although i collect this stuff i do get pissed of at the thought of DJs playing Larry Clinton at 3am to find out John & Richard had duped other DJs to promote there goods, especially when dealers and collectors had high moral standards about playing Bootlegs, I have no issues with say Richard and Ady playing unreleased soul on acetate or actual bona fide studio disc's, but the line has to be drawn, as i say, i used to sell records in the bar at Wigan along side Pete, Ady & Mick, so have a good idea on what sold or not, and the white US stompers and the obscure UK demos where so quick to sell, compared to a real proper black American Soul singer? sometimes the truth haunts us, but I cant remember the punters complaining about records the Gear yes/ (Dave rant) York records this is the best one to have a 1 sided Demo that knocks the spots of the Tailor made stuff, sound clip I don't no any one else with the record, I will try, Cost me a £5 from a dealer who was trying to draw Mick's attention to it/, Al Green is great and not seen many, not his best by far but such a great song, £5, i have to end for a bit to eat, will be back. DAVE
