Don't know if this was the authentic issue or a demo or a test press but it sure looked fine. A yellow Washpan one would look a bit crappy next to it. Come to think of it there are a lot of labels with the Nashville Matrix stamp, that do not have demos. Like Joe L?, Clara Hardy, Ronnie McNeir, to name a few, must be more? Incredible song, impassioned Soulful vocals, perfect Northern dancefloor beat, brilliant Detroit production, great name, obscure Detroit label and mega mega rare from day one. Pretty much the perfect Northern Soul record. God bless Kev Roberts for selling me the 2nd copy. £40 doesn't sound like much these days, but it was 4 weeks wages back in the day. I was never happier then when I was playing this record. If I won the lottery, I wouldn't think twice about buying it back for £5K. It's seriously that good! This one came out of a U.S. DJ collection that took me 10 years to get into, one of my all time fav's and now it just says Bamberg and Brad Hales (You had to be there to understand). I will ask him about that as he appears never to have forgotten anything to do with records he has owned or seen and more surprisingly anything I've ever had or done which is a bit scarey in a stalker kinda way. Ian, I got a copy of the 45 in March '73 when I swapped it with a guy dj-ing in Hyde, near Stockport. Gave him Lenis Guess and I think Toni Lamarr for it. One is the guitar riff from Joe Hicks, but the other is the sound of those horns from the Tomangoes. great memories. Does anyone else remember that Steve Caesar the awsome dancer used to take his dog to Wigan, but left it in his car/van. Half way through the night he used to go out to take it for a walk.
