Guest rnb1980 Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 hi!, do you know something about this Sam Cooke's rare single? Sugar Dumpling b/w Twistin' The Night Away, a 33rpm issue. LP promo? jukebox issue...? thanks in advance!
Kris Holmes Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 sounds like a 33rpm stereo jukebox 7" (mini LP), a shortlived format from around the late 50s/early 60s that often came with pic sleeves.
grant Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 loads of discographies for sam cooke if you google it, may appear in one of them
Guest julesp1905 Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 As it's not a Mini LP, straight 7" with one track per side, i would hazard a guess that it comes from South America
pikeys dog Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 There are loads of American 33rpm singles out there... They were made for Jukebox use. I've got some by Bobby Bland, Sam Cooke, Erma Franklin, Barbara Dane, Ray Charles etc.
Kris Holmes Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 As it's not a Mini LP, straight 7" with one track per side, i would hazard a guess that it comes from South America nope, a bunch of those mini LP type things were just one track per side, especially if they weren't jazz related. I have a few Jackie Wilson stereo 33 7"s for example & they are 100% US presses. I also have Thelonious Monk which is 1 song over both sides, so there's def a bit of variation
