I believe there are a few Northern type tunes mostly hidden away on LP's? I don't mean his funky "Say it loud / sex machine / I feel good kind of stuff but the more 'soulful' things Interested to 'discover' stuff 'right under my nose' if you get my meaning. Its the LP with "there was a time" on it - also "time after time" is nice and some great JB funk as normal. And as someone mentioned his "Hell" lp is a must, for "lost someone" and more fantastic out n out great JB funk sides. dont buy "lost someone" on the king 45 - it is an early slow version (unless you want that version lol) Link to comment Social source share More sharing options...

Old and well known classics such as "Hey America" "Living In America" etc. I don't go for the more funk stuff but do like some of his danceable stuff for Polydor. However, for myself personally JB comes into his own on his non-danceable straight soul stuff. Georgia On My Mind I Cried ---- up there with some of the best soul records I've ever heard. Bewildered King Heroin A Man Has To Go Back To The Crossroads For Your Precious Love Lost Someone (King) ------------- as a soul record it kicks the shit out the later Polydor cut Not everyones taste I admit but it sure is soulful. Fantastic tune, albeit its recorded very quitely on the LP , once you get past the 'gong' noise at the start you have to turn up the volume!
