Harry Crosby Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 oliver norman - drowning in my own despair - decca great track
Guest Paul Posted February 28, 2011 Posted February 28, 2011 Probably my favourite Decca 45 is 'Check Yourself' / 'Wait Until I'm Gone' (32259) from 1968. Two excellent sides, recorded at Royal in Memphis I think. It's also worth mentioning Debbie's earlier Decca 45 'The Last Laugh Is On The Blues' / 'I Get The Blues' (32090) from 1967. Paul
Kris Holmes Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 I like the Mighty Hannibal & Jamo Thomas 45s on Decca.

Dylan Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 the rayons "i'm giving up" tony ashley "i'll go crazy" 1 label number apart from each other and 2 of the best soul records ever made IMO.
Dean Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Another Tony Ashley - I'll Never Be Satisfied . . . . well worth looking up
Dean Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 A few more while I'm on . . . Leon Haywood - You Don't Have to See Me Cry (think Kev H played this at The Attic before I picked it up) Bunny Sigler - For Cryin' Out Loud (nice on issue, thanks to Pete Smith) The Patrick Bradley - Just One More Chance (still favourite inst dancer)
Dean Posted March 1, 2011 Posted March 1, 2011 Grover Mitchell - Take Your Time And Love Me (great mid-tempo version of the beatier Josie version) Grover Mitchell - I Gotta Keep Movin and finally for now. . . . not everyone's cup of tea but such fond memories of this oldie, still like to spin it at home occasionally Len Barry - You Baby 1
KevH Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 A few more while I'm on . . . Leon Haywood - You Don't Have to See Me Cry (think Kev H played this at The Attic before I picked it up) ..you know it... Anoraks Corner Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Grover Mitchell - Take Your Time And Love Me (great mid-tempo version of the beatier Josie version) Wonder why 'DECCA' is written to the right of the label on this release?
KevH Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Wonder why 'DECCA' is written to the right of the label on this release? Mine's on the left...
Dean Posted March 2, 2011 Posted March 2, 2011 Mmmmm, there's a puzzle, especially as Kev says his is left side. I'm afraid I can't offer any insight, I'll have a close look and see if there's any other detail contained on disc.
Windlesoul Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 My two: Ray Pollard -Wanderlust (one of my faves on the label) Little Charles - Talkin about you, babe on - Canadian Decca 1
Anoraks Corner Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 I used to avidly collect Soul/Popcorn releases on Decca for many a year...so many cracking tunes! Here's a not so well known romper stomper of a tune that the Latin fans would appreciate...kinda like Gerri Granger's 'Why can't it be tonight' on steroids with a screaming sax break!
Anoraks Corner Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Another Tony Ashley - I'll Never Be Satisfied . . . . well worth looking up ...as is his, 'I Can't Put You Down' / 'We Must have Love'. 1
Anoraks Corner Posted March 3, 2011 Posted March 3, 2011 Little Charles - Talkin about you, babe on - Canadian Decca That's my fave track from that outfit Great group...here's another, 'Twice As Much For My baby' / 'Sweet Lorene'. 1

Nickinstoke Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 Here's a few more UK Deccas... A decent version of Bobby Wilson, on Chain A surprisingly good version of J.R. Bailey/Donny Hathaway I think JM auctioned another of their 45s for a hefty sum recently Nick
Davetay Posted March 4, 2011 Posted March 4, 2011 4 more from me . . . . just not as big as the one above (or perhaps over by now) Grover Mitchell - Loving You Danny White - Cracked Up Over You Len Barry (again) - 1-2-3 Ray scott - The Real Thing Get that Danny White traded in for a nice pink demo to put with the others.
