I recently attended a local soul nite in scarborough and was having a chat and a few drinks, then a little later a couple of friends called me over (Jenny Scarlett and Mick Charlton ) who were celebrating their wedding anniversary. When i was talking to them they asked me if i had entered a comp to design a Wigan Casino badge slightly bemused at first i vaguely remembered entering my design .They brought to my attention a photo of my design was in the book "Wigan Casino years by Tim Brown".Surprised and excited when i got home i looked through the book and sure enough it the photo was there alongside a photo of the actual badge. It was at this point some memories came back to me,i thought at the time some features of my design had been used on actual badgepost-15980-0-37858600-1298289977_thumb.j.So i wondered if anybody could shed some light on some questions .Who won the comp ? What was the 1st prize ? Where did the comp appear ? and finally why wasn't a photo of the winning design in the book ? Thanks Tony

Just looking at the design closely, this has got to be the one used for the actual 500th badge. Maybe Tony you should seek proffesional advice with someone who knows about copywrites and how much of the design can be said is yours. I think if two thirds or something like that of the design has been used you could be entitled to copywrite laws. Including all the re-pro badges sold that could amount to something, whoever was responsible for the final distribution of the badge should know, perhaps Russ Winstanley will know. Who knows, you could end up with the 80s portable TV that is still at Mr Winstanley's house all tuned in, plugged up ready and waiting for the first prize winner of the comp.

Sorry to disappoint you Boot, but I designed the badge. They made it almost exactly to my drawing which was a surprise as I also did the 2nd anniversary badge which they butchered to save costs. I cant remember what I won, maybe £25, but my favourite was the 2nd anniversary when I won £10 plus a backstage pass to meet Tommy Hunt in his dressing room.

Hi,no problem, just thought it strange he included my design in the book and not the original drawing, regards Tony.
