Firstly, apologies if you feel like you constantly get bombarded with charity requests. Secondly, if this is in the wrong section. again apologies but mods feel free to move.

I know fairly short notice......but in an appeal to your charitable sides.......

I'm attending a charity auction on the 4th march in Warrington. It's something that the missus' uncle is organising and the charity is called St Rocco's which is a hospice his wife passed away at. The hospice did a great deal for their family and as a result he does as much fund raising as he can in return.

Anyway, I've been asked if I can put something northern soul related together for auction. my plan was to put a box of vinyl and other bits in for the auction. I've been through some boxes at home for some oldies that I don't want but unfortunately have sold most on in last couple of years. Have so far put about ten records together, northern and Motown, and am going through the cd racks too.

So, what I was hoping you guys could do is check to see if you had any unwanted vinyl. Doesn't have to be expensive by any means, probably oldies and club classics, that type of thing. Could be boots or re-issues, uk, us whatever. Or if you have any orig CDs you're not interested in anymore.

Also, if you run an event or promote an event (especially in that area, but not essential) and want to promote it with your donation, leave some flyers and I'll make sure they're dished out with it.

Or maybe some free entry tickets to throw into the package???

I'm gonna be at Horse & Groom tomorrow, hopefully Crofton Soul Galore and Afternoon Delight Soul Clun next week too so anything you can donate I'll be at those events to thankfully take them off your hands. If you need to mail them I'm afraid I can't cover your costs so that would rely on your generosity too. If you need anymore details please just drop ms a PM.

Thanks for taking time out to read this

regards

Thanks for people's response so far. Had a couple of pm's for records, and thanks to Mick and Dee for donating some records at the horse and groom on sunday.

Had a few people mention they're sorting some vinyl and cd's for this Sunday too, it's all greatfully appreciated and will hopefully go soneway to making a lot of money for a worthy cause.

If anyone out there would like to donate any duplicates or unwanted cd's or vinyl please do get in touch.

If you promote soul events in the Warrington/Manchester area and would be willing to donate some free entry passes then please get in touch also.

I'd be happy to make sure some flyers went out with your donations, may well generate some attendees to your event as a result.

Cheers

Of course the winners can pick any of this years dates as long as they let us know when they intend to come.

This is just to let the girl on the door know whats happening.

Just let me know how to get them to you.

Good luck with this.

Just wanted to come on and publicy say a HUUUUUUUUGE thank you to everyone who donated.

The prize that went up for grabs consisted of about 20 northern & soul related CD's, 60+ 45's in an orig 70's vintage vinyl box plus 4 passes for The Northern Line and 4 passes for Manifesto soul clubs.

To those who donated, you know who you are and your generosity was absolutely fantastic.

It was a craking event on Saturday night and the St Rocco's Hospice representative was blown away by the effort that went into the whole event.

The soul lot put together of the back of your kind donations raised £150!!!

This was the third highest lot behind a signed Wayne Rooney shirt (which also came with signed posters from 1966 world cup winners) and 2 tickets to see Man Utd Vs Marseille in teh Champions League. Given the other lots on offer such as signed Ricky Hatton gloves, signed Warrington Wolves shirts etc, i think that's a great achievment.

With the auction, ticket sales, raffle and other bits, they raised between £2500 and £3000.

So once again, thanks to all those who've contributed!!
