hatsoff2.gif HI ALL .....BAZ JUST A GLANCE THROUGH THE JAY BOY CAT ESPECIALLY THE 20s TO 60s RINGS TO MIND AND EVOKES THE READING OF BLUES & SOUL WHEN THEY (JOHN ABBEY) WOULD MAKE THE COMMENT OF BEING ONE FOR UP NORTH OR NORTH OF WATFORD, , I USED TO ORDER THE 45s FROM STEVENS IN THE ARCADE IN LETCHWORTH EACH RECORD TOOK 8 WEEKS TO ARRIVE BUT WELL WORTH THE WAIT PHILIP MITCHEL'S GONNA BUILD CALIFORNIA TOOK 30 YEARS TO CATCH ON AND IF YOU LOOK THROUGH THE LIST THERE ARE STILL SOME GEMS STILL TO GET PLAYS.

#2 TO #19 & #21 ARE A PAIN TO PICK UP, #2 BEING A MOD RECORD WELL FIND THEM EVEN IF YOU THINK THEY ARE CRAP, THEY ARE ALL WORTH MIN OF £5 AS ARE THE KC AND GEORGE Mc C REA AS DEMOS WITH A DEMO OF QUEEN OF CLUBS (MECCA SPIN) I FOUND TO BE THE HARDEST OF THEM ALL TO FIND, ph34r.gif AS ALWAYS DAVE

What is a Jay Boy 1 Demo Doris Willingham "You can't do that" worth and was it ever played out?

Posted (edited)

Ive a demo of the Doris Willingham plus a load of the non soul 45's Lyons And Malone (Mod),Mike Quinn (twee pop psych),Dee And The Quotum (great),Roundtable(funky organ inst) are all collectable records by psych heads. There's also some girlie pop stuff and a few reggae bits ( a thing called Banana by the EK Bunch which mentions skinheads is collectable). The Sugarlumps from memory is a reggae version with an early moog sound. The Swamp 45 is reggae and from memory Reggae 70 was a Dave Barker cover as is the Niyah 45 (poor version of Rolf Harris). The Complete Cycle 45 is to be avoided unless you like a sub standard version of Clearwater Revivals I'm On The Road Again. The Migil 5 is poor pop as is the Paul Shelley. The Gaslight 45 is great.

Canned Heat surely Kev?

Most of those 2-22 releases are ridiculously difficult to find. My mate (Sid from Cleckheaton) actually had a complete run back in the 70's but I haven't seen him for 35 years so I dunno if they're still intact.........:D
