Guest martinsbox Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 How come after all these years that nothing has ever replaced the all-nighters at Wigan? We had The Wheel, The Torch, Wigan Casino . . . then nothing! There have been plenty of pretenders, but nothing of continuety. . .why? There have been so called Wigan's 30th anniv. but it died in 1981. How can you have an aniversary after the event?

Guest martinsbox Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 Stafford was a good nighter and I enjoyed the atmosphere, but it never lasted! 100 Club was too small and too far South. To sell 45's you had to go to the toilets! A good (but not great) venue . . . a pit stop!! The only place I've been to were the stage is actually bigger than the dance floor!
macca Posted February 4, 2011 Posted February 4, 2011 (edited) I don't believe in the geographical limitations you speak of Martin. People were already travelling to non-northern venues in the mid to late 70s, so how could London be too far south? The 100 Club Street has been cutting edge since its inception and being small certainly didn't exactly hold back the Twisted Wheel, Va-Vas, Blackpool Mecca (admittedly not an All Nighter), Cleethorpes Pier etc, etc. So, with all due respect, size, on this occasion, is not important. Suinoz Posted February 5, 2011 Posted February 5, 2011 Kinga Hall Stoke on Trent. Probably the nearest in comparison you will ever get to the old Casino. And no it's not weekly but no-one will ever be able to run a nighter on a weekly basis nowaday's, people have too many other things to do and besides there are enough nighters running now if you want to go to one EVERY weekend. Wigan was unique. Hope you fine what your looking for elsewhere.

I asked on here a while back if a weekliy allnighter would attract a following.............. a solid NO was the answer.. ATB Tony
