Hi folks

Just to let you know my 1999 book Too Darn Soulful has been reprinted and is available again now

It's been updated and repackaged as The Story of Northern Soul (Anova Books), and now boasts a new sleeve and fresh photos

For those who missed it the first time around, it's a 330-page history of the NS scene in Britain from the 60s to the present day

It now has recent pictures from Prestatyn, Bridlington etc, so many thanks to all who helped - particularly John Poole, Mark Fletcher, Rob Wigley and Casper

There's also a great plug for current major soul event promoters and of course Soul Source!

RRP is £9.99 and can be ordered from www.anovabooks.com

link here (i hope)

First one was my favourite of the lot that came out around that time

That's probably just about destroyed the sales of the revamp :) ....but you'll get one sale at least as I have pawed over mine that much that it is falling apart!

Great book

thanks for your kind comments lads!

this new version brings the story right up to date and to be honest when you think of all the changes since 1999 it is quite scary

Ritz all-nighters - gone

Tonys in Blackburn - gone

Lowton - gone (but now being resurrected!)

Cala Gran weekenders - gone

Middleton - been and gone

Winsford - gone

No Searling on Smooth FM (shame!)

etc etc

the gap has been filled to some extent by the big weekenders, New Century, Lifeline, etc :hatsoff2:

but that is a lot of change in 11 or 12 years

Hi Dave,

Got your first copy - excellent. A must read for all of us boys and girls. At Prestatyn March so hopefully can pick a copy up there.

Cheers

I got the new copy with the new additional photos by casper.

yep - Pete was very helpful in helping us track down a brilliant young photographer

I personally think the pic from the KGB of the lad doing the handstand should have been on the cover

but mebbe that's just me........................

I think casper has used liam on one of his flyers. I thought Casper took the photo?

It was indeed used on one of Casper's flyers - which is where I spotted it

(It was posted up on here. Int Soul Source great?)biggrin.gif

The pic was taken by a photog called Jethro Bradley-Firth

It's a belter - think he was a student at the time?

Pete will correct me if i'm wrong i'm sure!

The other new colour pics were supplied by those nice people at Prestatyn and Bridlington

There are also current flyers and mentions/links to New Century, Goldsoul, Soul Source etc
