Dave Moore Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 Watched this......quite enjoyed seeing Eddie Willis still plucking away. Nice one. Nice to see the music being referred to as revered too. Think they tried their best to be true to 'the sound'. You're right about the self promotion, there's no way did they 'reproduce the Sound Of Young America" as Mr Collins claimed. I thought the musicians were good and it was a reasonable attempt but Phil was the weak link I felt. His vocals are way out of synch with the likes of Reeves, Ross, Stubbs, Ruffin etc. Plus...how you gonna reproduce Benjamin, Jamerson, Jones etc. I've heard some of the finished tracks via youtube etc and they are on a par with that other famous soulster Rod Stewart. Worth watching it to hear Babbit play "Tears Of A Clown". 6/10 Regards, Dave

Bigsoulman Posted January 30, 2011 Posted January 30, 2011 A pile of shite! Great to see some of the funk brothers of course but FFS why not look over the fence a bit and give us something different rather than the same old same old Motown tracks played and discussed over and over again. I thought at least Collins being on the mod scene in the 60s would have picked some different songs for his tribute. 3/10 purely for the surviving funk brothers
Spacehopper Posted February 1, 2011 Posted February 1, 2011 didnt see it so cant comment on film but as for collins lets hope he stayed there not a fan
