I've never been to England before, but have just been told I am going to a conference in London on Mar 31st (thursday). I think I will take some vacation days and stay a bit! I'd like to attend as many soul things as possible.

I really like 1960s stuff (including R&B and early funk as well as soul), but not as into 1970s or later.

any suggestions would be awesome! I'll be staying at/near King's College.

Thanks!

Skegness rare soul weekender...

Perfect for you, that starts Friday and goes on to Sunday night...

2 hours or so by train ooooooop North and a good reason to get out of god forsaken shandy drinking cess pit...

There will be folk going to the weekender from down South, they could maybe give you a life, share train???? anyone...

I can also ask London based mates what on in the smoke, nothing i can see posted in events but not everything gets posted there.. With your choice in music there could be some Mod related events that cover RnB/ 60s soul/ funk/ boogaloo etc etc.. maybe Rob Bailey/ Clanger/ Warren/ Simsy/ Sam/ etc etc, all members on here???

Lets look after our friend from over the pond, he could bring us record mailers for free  ...

I am sure you will get some good feedback and hope you get to have a nice little break...

awesome! thanks! i am hoping to stay for over a week and make it up north by train to see/do whatever is soulful.

i really know nothing about the geography of england (typical american). i am still laboring under the impression that everything outside of london looks like "All Creatures Great and Small" or one of the weekend parties from "Jeeves and Wooster". really looking forward to exploring!
