Supercorsa Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 How can you go wrong with names like Wylie, Hester, Terry, McLaughlin and Deon Jackson on a label (not forgettin' what tune's on the other side )?
Cheapsiderecords Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Canadian Carla, the only Carla, Moira etc etc I have found. Any info on what else came out up here?
John Benson Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 Here's a couple of scans I have to hand: Love his stuff!
Johnmcc Posted January 16, 2011 Posted January 16, 2011 LP - His Greatest Recordings With Four Newly Discovered Performances (Actually Three!)
Supercorsa Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Deon Jackson has to be one of my favourite artistes . I've been after a copy of That's What You Do To Me for a while, but I don't want it on that horrible red with black lines/writing label, so I've misssed out on quite a few copies . Any chance of Mr Croasdell or someone legitimately releasing Someday The Sun Will Shine b/w I Remember The Feeling? Anyway here's my meagre collection for perusal .
Wilxy Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Absolutely awesome artist.....more's the pity he couldn't be tempted to share his artistry in person on these shores!
Dave Moore Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 Absolutely awesome artist.....more's the pity he couldn't be tempted to share his artistry in person on these shores! We were an inch away from sealing the deal. For some reason once the dust had settled on the meeting Deon decided it wasn't for him. It was one of the worst moments I've had on the soul scene when he backed out, I was convinced he was gonna blow everyone away. He is still a musician and is a tutor/mentor at a school just outside Chicago. He's a lovely bloke and I'm sure he'd have had people eating out of his hands in UK. Ah well, I'm sure he had his reasons. Regards, Dave
Guest oldsoulgit Posted January 17, 2011 Posted January 17, 2011 I would be over the moon if somebody could get him to come over hear, here's hoping, cheers Jim.

Paul McKay Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Surprised no one has mentioned this UK only Alternate mix. 1
John Benson Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Thanks for the Contempo scan Paul It saved me from digging mine out, as I was just going to look for it! Anyway, here's a few more variations (and maybe a better picture of one) etc.
Anoraks Corner Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 The same instrumental as the flip side to The Capitols Cool Jerk. Is it a rare release? Just interested like Yes, if you are referring to the 'Hello Stranger 66', and fairly, yes
Anoraks Corner Posted January 19, 2011 Posted January 19, 2011 Hi Dave is this an instrumental, same as Lionel hampton, otr does it have the vocals by Deon ? never seen this or heard... No, not the same as Lionel...this was a hit song spouting lots of cover versions. This version does not feature Deon singing...it is a lush string-laden take...no idea why they put his name to it, but thankfully they did thus causing an odd rarity for us to track down years later!

Blunny Posted January 20, 2011 Posted January 20, 2011 Yes, if you are referring to the 'Hello Stranger 66', and fairly, yes I had an inkling it might have some rarity value as I could never find any info about it. Many thanks for the reply.
Cheapsiderecords Posted January 22, 2011 Posted January 22, 2011 (edited) Just sorting a couple of boxes of $5 stuff for a local show this afternoon and found this mis-filed on Canadian Atco. Mint unplayed: Edited January 22, 2011 by newer
