Another rpoor example of a very amateur reissue / bootleg up for sale on Ebay - and look at the selling prices , is it not time these devious practises were brought to the attention of BPI - only saving grace for the seller his description states reissue - does not look very legit though rolleyes.gif

Ebay is flooded with these bloody things, sick of seeing them and ploughing through page after page of the crap, they should be reported and about time Ebay actually did something about it,the joke is two copies of this have been sold, so more fool the people for buying them, what's an original Fee of this £30/40.00 and even less for a 70's Grapevine so no excuses on buyers part, so many of these titles are pretty easy to get on originals so this is down to simply making a fast buck and it sucks.

for anyone who's interested, the sellers name is xxxxx so he should know better

At the bottom of the listing it says the seller is Julian Metcalfe and his address and phone number are there as well. Plus isn't northern soul scene run by someone called Joolz (Julian)?

someone even bought copied labels from the boots

That is the weirdest f**king thing I have ever seen.

Why would people buy them? To stick them on carvers?

Quote: they are made from heat proof paper, so they dont burn during the pressing prosess

Some people really will literally buy anything won't they?

What A Load Of B*ll*cks those Labels Are!!

I'm absolutely sure most (if not all of them) labels are left overs from the two-for-the-price-of-one lookalike bootlegs that flooded the market a few years ago. So the seller is either very close to the guy who did all the pressings or at least to the pressing plant that pressed them...

or indeed the printers who printed them

I've just tried to offer: 1p, with free P&P. However, it said I must offer 99p or more....

I'm not paying 99p for a Frisbee....:)

I see hes sold quite a few of them.

Ive made a big complaint to ebay of double standards.

I listed to Signed Beatles albums with no COAs and fully listed as non-verified with a full explanation,

Within 24 hours they have been removed by ebay with a standard email saying they are in breach - " Not Authentic. Ive even had someone from ebay telling me I had a strike against my account.

Ive made a complaint about the Frank Wilson Boots and they are still there days afterwards.

So Ive replied to the ebay boy and asked about Double standards. Still waiting!

How much do these things cost to press ? I wouldnt have thought there would be much profit in flogging them at the buy it now price of 8.99

plenty profit if hes done a run of 500 plus - should be around £6.00 plus each 45 - I agree re Ebay double standards but these charlatans need nipping in the bud

Three quid a copy is hardly gonna make him rich .In fact he would need to sell 334 just to break even . Not worth the risk

I know this may come across as sounding wrong (not meant that way!) but those fooking labels

don't bear any resemblance to the originals , now that may be not to con people (but I doubt it)

It just goes to show how cut throat these people are. If any of the Graphic Artists that have done 99% of the

shite labels you see on these boots worked at my place they would be sacked!

Even if you're going to boot something , at least do it well !

Cheers

Swifty

p.s. I stuggle to get a tenner on ebay for originals that book £50-£100 sometimes , maybe I'm in the wrong fooking game

p.p.s. if anybody wants a label artwork doing properly , give me a call

They don't do runs Glyn, they just think of a title and if someone wants it, they cut it. A cutting machine, you can get one for under 5 grand, the blanks are probably a pound each.

This is so true

They'll soon jump on you for selling things they perceive as not being kosher when it comes to Beatles, Elvis etc BUT they let guzzillions of the soul bootlegs through without a problem. I wish someone could put an end to all those fucking bootlegs that are on ebay. If ebay sorted it out they'd be fucked overnight! Apart from the obvious serious problem of ripping off artists, legal owners etc it drives you fucking mad having to wade through the fucking things every fucking day, wasting your fucking time skipping over the fucking things!!!!

I know it's been said before on here BUT we all need to press the 'report this item to ebay' (or whatever the link is called?) and report it each time we see it!

Cheers

Steve

Pete Ebay would be more concerned if CD sold as new and buyer complained not as described and takes out an INR dispute - then they are all over you like a rash ....

Sure EMI Records would be interested in those dodgy Tamla Motown promo reissues hmmmm

Do we know anyone who works for them...???

This is because The Beatles owners have departments who trawl Ebay and immediately send an infringment notice VERO program is the name ..Unfortunately not so keen with regard to northern soul 45s as they don 't have experts who understand the market ... and I doubt would ever show inclination to employ such while making 10 % comms on selling fees.....

I'm sure whoever now controls RCA would be very interested in the repros of their labels/logos along with any other of the major labels

Try using the filter Mark, select just used and it takes out all items listed as new

No , unfortunately the record companies are not interested Pete - small fry sellers not a large scale repro like Bowie or other well known items. I have contacted three of the record companies with regard to these repros - no response from any after four days ......

I was contacted directly by EMI via special delivery mail regarding a CD single promo i was selling on ebay, used to get loads of them, demanding it's return or legal action, phoned them up blagging it was my son selling them on my account, enquired if it was okay to sell 60's promo items, reply was they are only interested in current stuff or established artists, never did return it and heard nothing since.
