Bought mine at the Casino in 78 ish so I knew it before then. Can't remember what I paid but it was relatively expensive then £20ish I guess. Can't for the life of me remember who was playing it though I was a bit of a Pat Brady follower but may not have been Pat.

So all in all a clear as mud as usual

I dont think that it has ever been 'big' any were, I 've always thought of this as being more of a collectors record that gets an odd spin on occasions. It has always been quite a hard piece. IMO this deserves to be massive.....................love it, now some one post up & tell me I'm talking boll***s

I think it has always been too rare to be that big but I fell in love with it on first hearing. I don't usually play it but gave it an outing when on at Soul or Nothing, thought they were the right crowd to appreciate it. Another underplayed underappreciated oldie there are sooooooo many

Not boll***s at all Russ! Great record. I got it off Ian Stewart early 80s for £4 - didn't know it but when I heard it bought it because it sounded great. Used to play it around South Bucks nites early/mid 80s. As you say, never been a regular spin as far as I'm aware. I heard it out about 3 years back - Capitol Soul Club I think. Just the sort of tune you would've heard there.

gotta agree with you Russ, can't really put this disc to any one particular dj and don't really recall it ever getting serious turntable action. should be bigger (and better) than it is

Dito to Mark White's comments i reckon Ian Stewart must have had two copies as i got the other one for about £6.00 you bugger Mark......lol, i have played it out now and again over the years, but as Ged said it's a very hard record to track down, i would suggest as hard as their other record to find maybe harder, always seems to sell around the £300.00 bracket and worth every penny a classy record that will have it's moment on the scene one day i'm sure.

surprisingly it is produced by the Country Music Hall Of Fame but don't let that put you off, y'hear now, y'all.

lots of great blues, r&b and soul from the likes of Christine Kittrell, Little Hank, Esquerita (Eskew Reeder), Roscoe Shelton, Etta James, Arthur Alexander, Sam Baker, Bobby Hebb, Joe Simon and, of course, The Hytones.

not a lot of out-and-out northern stompers but as the cold winter nights draw in, picture yourself in your favourite armchair with this CD on, a big Glenmorangie in your fist and Rich Buckley's copy of Barely Legal 2 on the box, sound turned down of course

doesn't get much better

I asked about this record last year, as I saw a copy for sale on Ebay. That copy went for £490!

Anyway, it's also available on the Kent CD, Uptown Down South (CDKEN 121).

By the way I think it's a top tune!
