Guest Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 That's shocking news, does anyone have any more details on this very sad news. Mark Bicknell Very sad news only 60 years of age, just read on News Channel 3 he died last night at home in Dallas
Craig W Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Very sad news indeed , the man made some superb sounds. I went to see him live at Fleetwood a few years ago but he did'nt seem to be in the best of health then. He was very overweight and seemed to struggle a little with his act due to this.
Epic Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Tragic news indeed - hugely underrated IMHO - had his own unique style - another sad loss to the soul scene. RIP Willie
Guest Gavin Page Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Big favorite in the page houehold. God bless and hope he has gone to a better place

Guest Posted September 20, 2005 Posted September 20, 2005 Anyone who spent time with Willie at Fleetwood a few years back or experienced him live on stage there will know how nice he was. As someone said to me this year- cherish them while you can.
Ady Croasdell Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Very sad, Roger was playing his 'Duck' at the 100 on Saturday. The next spin will have to be in remembrance.
Tomangoes Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Real sad news but at least it appears that he knew how much he meant to the UK soul scene, which sadly many other 'greats' were unaware. 'Love runs out' - what more could you ask for in a record on our scene and his unique voice getting right to the soul. RIP Sir. Ed
Eddie Hubbard Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Very sad, Roger was playing his 'Duck' at the 100 on Saturday. The next spin will have to be in remembrance. Very sad news Ady , think I'll play either " Love runs out " or " Just another day " at Wellingborough on friday , the man made some brilliant albums and 45's . Best Wishes , Eddie .

timthemod Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 A great loss indeed! Willie Hutch was a prolific writer and producer who produced Brenda Holloway amongst others and wrote loads of stuff with Marc Gordon for Modern Records and Jobete Music (Motown Publisher) in LA. He and Marc were also instrumental in the early success of The Fifth Dimension. I'll be spinning 'I Can't Enough' on Modern in his memory tonight. TTM
Guest Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 Another loss to our great scene. RIP Willie our love for you will never run out!

As someone said to me this year- cherish them while you can. Bless him - I know I always profess to be embarrassed that I did The Duck on stage with Willie at Fleetwood (with La Levine, personal choreographer, stage left ) but I'm left with a very personal memory of one of the Soul greats and I'm really grateful for that.
Mark Bicknell Posted September 21, 2005 Posted September 21, 2005 I'll be playing three tunes as a tribute to Willie on my show on Sunday October 2nd, a very sad loss indeed a huge talent, bless you Willie. Mark Bicknell.
